Hello,  AntonyMMM,

I have applied for a copy of the will...

Is TNA The National Archives? Just a guess.

A great aunt mentioned this matter in a letter back in the 1970s, I have just come across it and wonder what it was all about, I knew of the inheritance but not hat there was an issue about it.

Thanks, Bea.

Thanks again Andy,
Will check out the info you gave me. Probate went through a place that sounded Welsh, started with a double ',L'.

Sorry I missed the last bit of your message, reading on the phone isn't my strong point, I just read to the bottom of the box

So grateful for all the help I've had from you and this dite

Bea.

The Common Room / UK court records

I want to research a London court case from c. 1944. It was contesting a will. The will was probated about 6 months after the death.

Would a copy of the will reflect the final outcome of the contest, or the original, before court orders? Can I apply somewhere to see who brought the case and the result?

And am I posting to the correct forum?

Thanks, Bea.

Thanks to all who replied... I wasn't sure this John Powell existed, certainly the name is unfamiliar in my ancestral records. The only info I had was on the side of the medal.

heywood, what is a possible transcription error? Can you please explain what this means?

Hello, Heywood and Girl Guide

thank you for your quick response

to Girl Guide: the only info I have is on the medal itself, it does not have any family names I am familiar with, I am just quoting from the inscription on the edge of the medal...

Heywood: is it pertinent that John Powell is not on the Waterloo medal roll? not sure where to go from here.

Bea
