Dear Only Me!

Thank you so much for the pics & the info.   I finally found Denys Sims grave at St Mary’s, Mellis.  A very discreet flat stone in the NE corner of the churchyard.  Never did I think I would uncover such an intriguing story in researching the Roll of Honour displayed in the Mellis Memorial Hall.  Evelyn must have had a very challenging life.

Happy days "The Common" again I would really like to identify where on the common if at all possible & in particular where John L Aggas c1871 & Edith were.

A little bit of help would be very much appreciated,  We have a copy of an old photo possibly c1920 showing the Aggas's (carpenters & joiners) in front of their sawpit.  Can anyone possibly identify an address for this family say from 1911 on?  John Aggas snr died 1922 age 87 and his son John L Aggas in 1951 age 80.

The 1901 CR is not very helpful it just says "by the common" for a lot of the properties >:(

I have sent you a PM Simon.   Yes he certainly married Susanna but it’s a long and interesting story with some twists.

Hello Simon

Yes as you say a beautiful memorial to Minnie and I am pleased to say the ash sapling has now been removed.  I will send you a PM later.

Hello Jaclyn

Welcome to Rootschat - I see this is your first post.

I would like to send you a Personal Message but you need to have made at least 3 posts before I can do that - can you conjur up a couple more - reply to this + one other.

Although I am not connected to the family in anyway I was very curious about the brothers & found out quite a lot for an article I wrote in our parish newsletter.

Thanks for the suggestion however FreeREG lists the bpt of Charles in 1803 Seal, mother Elizabeth. Also listed is John 1800 with same mother & that ties in very nicely with everything I know about the family.

Sarah is probably related somehow , aunt possibly.
