Hi Kevin...Here are most of the family in 1851....

HO107/2254 folios 164&165.
Bradley Land Head, Great Marsden.

John Foulds (H) 69  Weaver.            b.
Mary....(wife)  64                              b.
Thomas Foulds..(son)Un. 34 Weaver.  b. Marsden.
John Holgate (Gr.son) 17  Labourer     b.       "
Elizabeth Holgate (Gr.dau) 10              b.        "
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The birthplaces for John & Mary are a little mixed.
John says Bradley Hollow and nothing for Mary...but the house above is un-occupied but has a birthplace for Marsden..Which would make me believe that Marsden is meant for John Foulds and Bradley Hollow for Mary Foulds...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1861 Thomas Foulds is at the same address as head still unmarried but with him is his younger brother Jacob Foulds, also un-married aged 37, both are Power Loom Weavers (Cotton)

Not sure if it's of any help, searched 1851 for Jacob with no sign, but there is a death recorded West Derby Q3 1849 for a Jacob Dyson. Wonder if this is the father..?
Might  give you an idea if the whole family moved there and maybe his late wife's name..?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Chadderton - CLEGG baptism

Hi David....No problem, i have Weslyian Methodist Ancestors, they Baptised their children in their own Chapels, but marriages had to be in a Church of England Church or later at a Register Office
Other faiths also had to marry at Church of England..or Registrar attended at this time.
Tonge  was actually between Chadderton & Middleton, its an area now called Mills Hill on the border of both towns, so St leonards is a possibility although there is a small Methodist Chapel at Mills Hill (passed it yesterday) Were they Methodists by any chance..? It looks quite old and they have their own Burial Ground.
