Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Re: Robert Boyd, death Mar 24, 1878 Ballyearl

Hi Peggy

This particular Robert was married to a Jane, don't know the surname. I am obtaining death certificates at the moment so hopefully I can get an idea of when they were married.

I do know of a Robert Boyd and Anne or Anna Long who lived in Donegal and would be about the same age as the ones you are looking for.

Between the Irish famine and the civil war it has really messed up irish genealogy!!

I am a bit pushed for time at the moment but will get back to you on those other samuel carson boyd"s

Hi Peggy

My Robert Boyd and his wife died in Belfast 1882 within a month of each other.Unfortunately as with most of my ancestors they were poor so very difficult to trace.Sometimes certificates give relatives and sometimes addresses which is handy. At least Irish certificates are cheap.Biggest problem as you probably know is that Boyd is a bit like Smith in Northern Ireland. I did look up Shankill Belfast in the Griffiths evaluation and found 13 Robert Boyd's so I don't know which one is mine, but he may not have lived there at that time. All I have is info off a headstone. I have seen that there were two Samuel Carson Boyd's.

Hi Peggy

Have you got any more details on your Robert ie approx birthdate, marriage date.

I am descended from a Robert Boyd from County Antrim myself.Mine was born about 1814 give or take a few years.

Hi,I had a look at the church's site, nothing relevant there.
Kim,thanks for that.and thanks for saving me money.
That's the trouble with Scots/Irish,they keep repeating the same names every generation and cousins as well. Robert,James,John and Samuel were pretty popular!! and Boyd is like Smith.

You could be right with Priscilla,it certainly does not follow the usual trend

Thanks for your help.

Hi,I am looking for a marriage of a Robert Boyd to a Jane probably in Antrim or Down between 1832-1845.I have already found a Robert Boyd to an Anne Jane Barr in 1832 and Robert Boyd to Jane Ervine also in 1832. I used to get access to Rootsireland before it became a Subscription site. The ones I am looking for both died in Belfast in 1882.They had children Eliza Jane,Margaret,Mary,Samuel, John and Priscilla. I do have a marriage for John and Priscilla. They were both married in Elmwood Ave Presbyterian church. I did think that they were the same as Robert Boyd and Anne Jane ,as above but I have discovered that they are a different couple. I don't want to take out a subscription if the ones I am looking for are not on their file. Would appreciate any help

Hi

It is interesting that I should see this post today. For about a year I have thought Catherine and her sister Eliza jane ,baptised as Elizabeth Jane were part of my family and yesterday I discovered that they were not.

it depends on how much the Moderator will let me tell you as I could write a book on this family.

Suffice to say they are the children of Thomas Boyd and Elizabeth Fegan. They are from the Townland of Ferryquarter ,in the Barony of Lecale lower, Ballyculter in County Down.

Perhaps Mr Moderator can tell me how much I am allowed to tell you

Best Regards

Rob

Hi

I am looking for a Robert William Boyd born Ulster Ireland c1810 ,probably Antrim or Down.He had a daughter Elizabeth Jane  Boyd born 1833.She was brought out to South Australia in 1848 under what was called the "Earl Grey Scheme" .

Other Boyd's that were brought out  to South Australia about the same time were,Andrew,Annie and Edward. They were all in the same age group ,all born between 1832-1835

They may or may not have been siblings.

Any info at all would be helpful

TIA Rob
