Hi Stephen! It's very nice to meet you! Our great grandfathers were brothers! My great grandfather was James and he was 7 years younger than your George. My GGrandfather stayed on in Scotland. I have added some of your family into my tree already. Are you on ancestry? I have a few very old photos of James, his wife and children. I also have photos that were my grandmothers, taken back in Scotland but I have no idea who the folks in them are. Feel free to email me at Scrapbookingcathy@gmail.com. I am in Toronto Ontario.

Hello there, :)

Hugh and Marion's son Lauchlen McFadyen married Catharine. One of their sons Hugh born 1841 married Malinda Gilson. Their daughter Catharine McFadden ( spelling change) was my great grandmother. She was lovingly referred to as Grandma Kate to all who knew her. Her daughter Birdena was my grandmother.

I have been searching everywhere for a picture of my great uncle Robert Hay. #79710 ,13th battalion Royal Fusiliers... to no avail. :(

My grandmother used to have a picture of him in full uniform. I believe it was taken by the military. Does anyone know who or where I might contact someone to see if there is a picture of him available? The picture went to an aunt and I believe it is long gone. :'(

I was given his death medal from my uncle. What a treasure! Now, if I could only put a face with all the information that I have on him.... I would be very happy.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well Jen,

Thank you very much. I would never have leaned those bits of information had it not been for you.  :) You have given me more to go on.

Now, if I could find a picture of him, Id be a reall happy camper. I have a picture of the Royal Fusiliers but I have no idea which one he is. :D There is a man in the picture that is the spitting image of one of my brothers and of my father....I am thinking that it may be him. LOL

Thanks again!
