German??  The English 1911 has over 21,000 entries with the surname Arnold & the 1939 register almost 24,000

If he deserted her after returning from the Army - presumably he wasn’t the father of her other 4 children b 1920-1930?

Do you have her 1935 marriage cert?  Does it show her as a widow or divorcee?

Hi

Unfortunately without knowing more about him & confirming he is deceased - we can’t take the chance of posting details.

Rootschat has a strict “no living persons” policy to protect peoples privacy.

We can’t be sure about either of the 2 deaths at the moment as there are no guarantees he remained in the Midlands area.  There are no Midlands births 1933-1935 so if he was born in Ireland he may have returned there.

These are all the areas covered by the Dover RD - could be any church

6 children b 1912-1930

A tree on Ancestry shows him as Arthur Ronald Crampton b 1885 died 1955 Maidstone.   Lucy is shown as re- marrying to Charles Bailey in 1935

However - the Maidstone death was Arthur REGINALD Crampton b 1888

Another tree also has him as Arthur Ronald - b 1883 Sussex died 1974 Hampshire - parents George & Rebecca nee Chester.  However - that birth reg shows only Arthur as does the death??

Same tree shows Lucy as having a daughter Georgina Louvain Crampton b 1916 to George Sturgess who died in 1917 in WW1??

Can you clarify - you say that censuses from 1851 show them in England but that children were only born after 1851?

George was single & in Carlisle in 1851

Jessie is actually Jane b 1854

The other Midlands death was born 7.8.1935

Surely your friends knows her fathers birthdate & when & where he died?  I am assuming he is deceased because if he were still alive - she would be asking him for info about his parents - not Rootschat  ;D

Death reg shows Gerald's birthdate as 5.10.1934 so a birth would be registered in the December qtr.

On both marriage & death entries he is shown as just Gerald
