Hallo Wendy - welcome to Rootschat.

Luckily Ancestry has this baptismal record in Southwark so we can answer the first part of the riddle.

At St. Pauls, Lorrimore Square on 23rd February 1872 the baptsim is entered of Frederick Walter Barrett and his sister Emma Augusta to Elizabeth Barrett, a single woman.

From that we should not yet assume they were twins and the marriage matter is still to be  resolved. More to follow.

hi thanks that great! No they weren't twins as Emma was 3 in the 1871 census.

Thanks very much for your help

I wonder if anyone can help me i'm looking for the father of Frederick Walter Barrett born 1871. His father is shown as charles Barrrett on his birth cert and mother Elizabeth Barrett maiden name also Barrett which seems a bit odd! On Fredericks marriage cert to Harriet Morgan it shows Fredericks father as John Barrett deceased. On both the birth and marriage cert it shows his fathers occupation as a Pawnbroker. It's all a bit confusing as I cant find either Charles or John Barrett on a census with Elizabeth.

If anyone can help it really would be a great help.
Many thanks

Wendy
