Thank you.  I thought that I had responded to this post but it's not showing as having a response from me. Sorry.
There seems to be such a lot of information out there I suppose it is just a case of knowing where to find it.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
George Davies was born in Neath, Glamorgan in 1877. He left for Alaska sometime around 1898.
I know he worked in copper mines in Canada until about 1900 then  moved to Alaska and lived in Fort Yukon, where he built the Fort Yukon Hotel. He also lived in Fairbanks, Circle, McGrath, Eagle and some other places that I have yet to discover. He married Sophia Rottermundt (1891-1960) on 5th July 1932 at the mission Church in Fort Yukon. They left Circle for Washington on the steamer Princess Louise on 25th September 1932. George & Sophia lived at 1309 Broadway, Everett, Washington. I have another address  Route 1, Arlington during 1948. I assume that this was their last home together as George died in 1953.
I am very lucky as my Father kept a lot of George's letters & photographs. I am amazed that a teenager from a small town in South Wales left home with a dream of making a better life and had such amazing adventures. It makes me wish that I was 20 years younger.....but then I don't think I would be tough enough.
Hope you enjoyed reading this note.
Kind regards,
Marilyn

Hello,
The name was George Davies. His wife was Sophia. They didn't have any children.
I have the most amazing letters & photographs of his time in The Yukon. Not much about his life in the Washington area though.

Can anyone tell me where to search for info re my Gt Uncle who left Wales sometime around 1900 for Canada / Yukon, Whitehorse, Alaska /Arlington, Washington State.
I know that he built the Fort Yukon Hotel (from logs) and that he lived in a log cabin and survived by trapping.
I don't have access to the USA or Canadian records.

My mother gave birth to a stillborn son at 7 months.  I believe this would have been about 1956. I know the name and place of birth, also his burial site.
I have been told that there will be no record of his death as he was stillborn. Does anyone know anything different?
The hospital in which he was born is now a housing complex so I cannot look there. Nobody knows where I should look. So frustrating.
Any advice please.
