Wiltshire / Re: Partish Lane?

Interestingly there is a house called Ellan Thie in the Portash area near Chilmark, although that might be connected with the occupant's liking for railways or the Isle of Man.

Ellan Thie translates as Island House ;D
Thie being house; Ellan Vannin being Manx for Isle of Man ;)

Somerset / Re: Blagdon

Blagdon Hill is just a couple of miles from the Devon border.
Nearest Devon parish is Churchstanton, which switched to Somerset in 1896 ;D

Maybe this is the cause of the confusion?

Depending on where the family actually lived, the church at Churchstanton (St Paul) may have been closer than the church at Pitminster?

Aha again!

The village of Blagdon Hill was renamed from just Blagdon, to distinguish it from Blagdon in North Somerset.

It is a part of the parish of Pitminster, and has as it's parish church St Mary & St Andrew.
Transcripts of parish registers are available via GenUKI:

The Blagdon I know lies between Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol.
This parish has a church, St Andrew.

As a North Somerset lad, this is the Blagdon I know.
Hadn't heard of another near Taunton?

" Blagdon Village is a tight-knit community for the over 60's. Set in the sought after area of Haines Hill, around a mile from the centre of Taunton, a distinct sense of peace and tranquility surrounds..."
Seems to be a more modern Retirement Village?

You don't need a service number to apply for service records ;D

The relevant form asks for Service Number OR Date of Birth

The London Palladium was formerly the National Ice Skating Centre, based at Hengler's Circus ;D
Rebuilt and renamed in 1910.

The Stay Safe Board / Re: Covid Vaccination

IOM Government have announced that all Manx residents having to travel across (to England) for medical treatment will be offered a Covid vaccination.

As I am still waiting for laser treatment for a kidney stone, that's welcome news indeed ;D
