Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Vincent Albertina Poland
« on: Sunday 29 July 18 14:06 BST (UK)  »
Good Afternoon

I am searching for advice or information regarding Vincent Albertina born 1860 inRussia
/Poland as he states on the 1891 Census in Liverpool that this is the place of his birth.
His Marriage certificate states that his Father is a Fireman named Joseph Albertina
Rumour has it that the Family are originally from Russia but that the surname is not original but was in fact changed to the name after a ship or vessel named Albertina that the Family sailed on from Russia.
Any information or advice would be much appreciated
Kind Regards
Lorraine

Hi Rosie

I believe that they are who we are looking for as the address into far from where future Family Mephams lived. I cannot find a death for George the father and now we can narrow it down to 1871 or before

Thank you
Lorraine

Hi Rosie

Thank you for your reply and the information regarding the Indian Mutiny
I forgot to state that George J married twice
The first marriage states Army Band Sergeant and the second marriage states Soldier deceased

Kind Regards

Good Evening

I am trying to find details regarding the Birth of an Ancestor

His name was George Mepham DOB possible early 1800s. He was a soldier with the British Army in India and I believe he fought in 1857/58

His son George J Mepham was born and Baptised in Barracore Bengal India on 4th August 1860. His mother was named Elizabeth.
I have lots of information for George J Mepham here in Liverpool but unfortunately I cannot find his father or mother on any other records on Ancestry or Find my Past.
On the marriage certificate in 1879 for George J Mepham it states that his father was a deceased soldier
I would be grateful for any information or advice that you could offer please

Kind Regards

Dublin / Elizabeth Newman Knight
« on: Friday 14 January 11 23:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I would appreciate any information or advice as to how I could possibly locate a birth certificate or census records for Kingstown Dublin
My GGGrandmother was born in Kingstown Dublin in about 1849/50
I have census returns for her in 1881/1891/1901 and 1911 all in Liverpool
I have nothing before 1880 although I have a birth record for her daughter Martha Knight /Bentham born in 1880 Lamb Street Liverpool. I have looked under this address in the street directories for this address but she is not listed
The father of the child is Robert Bentham but he was married and living elsewhere!!!
Martha died in 1881
Elizabeth Newman knight continued to live with Robert and her other 3 sons from 1881 until 1901 but she never married him. Robert died in 1905.
On her death certificate in 1933 it states her name as Betsy  Newman Knight, widower of Robert Bentham????
One of her grandchildren was given the middle name Newman but unfortunately she has since died and no family members know why she was given the middle name Newman
Regards
Lorraine

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Dalton Dyer Marriage
« on: Friday 15 October 10 08:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi Carole

The birth certificate is for Rosa Dyer born 1886 30th May to Julia Ann Dyer formerly Dalton and James Dyer 13 Princes Terrace Aigburh Street West Derby Liverpool
The Baptism is the same address on 11th June OR July 1886 in St Annes RC
In 1901 Julia is now a Dalton anlivingwith her sisters and in the next room is Rose and brother James bt ages are different
I was told that this is so they could get more rooms
I think that the 1881 Census with Julia and her siblings is correct and in 1911 she is a widow
On Rosa's marriage in 1905 to Henry Benham James Dyer Rosas father is deceased
I still wonder did she marry James Dyer

Hi Carole

Another twist ???

In the 1891 Census James and Julia and son John 1883 and daughter Rose 1886 and James 1889 living in Falkner Street Liverpool

Yet the surname is Dwyer and it states that James snr was born in Ireland and Julia Lancashire

Julia is living with James in the 1911 Census and she is a widow

Hi Carole

It could very well be Julia Ann Dwyer because that is how their surname was spelt on one of the Census Records

I will check it out
