New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Ebbetts - Cornwall to New Zealand *COMPLETED*
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 11:37 BST (UK)  »
Good evening, thank you for your reply to my Ebbett enquiry.  I have had a look in my tree - I believe your Great Great Grandfather was Charles Henry Ebbett 1855-1931, one of his many brothers was Thomas Frederick Harris Ebbett 1858-1949 - he was my husband's Great Grandfather.  We knew that many of our Ebbett ancestors emigrated to New Zealand and that some of them kept in touch with my husband's family.  We have a photograph which was found amongst my mother-in-laws posessions after her death and I have been trying to identify the subject, thinking that it could have been sent to her by her New Zealand relatives.  The only identification we have is that written on the back is E Ebbett.  Do you know any family who might have kept in touch with Australian relatives?  The lady in our picture looks to be maybe in her sixties and I think the picture would have been taken fairly early 1900's.  I have not tried to send attachments through a chat page, but can send via e-mail if you think you might be able to help.  Thanks again for your contact and look forward to hearing from you.  Cheers.

Australia / Re: Family Tondut
« on: Thursday 21 November 13 10:00 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening to anyone researching the Tondut family in Western and South Australia.  Does anyone have any information on William Henry Tondut and his wife Lucy Bell.  I have a copy of the marriage certificate of Harry Tondut to Lydia Currell in 1904, showing William and Lucy as his parents.  However I have been unable to trace any references to this couple.  Their son was married in Greenbushes WA, but there seems to have been a fair amount of travel between WA and SA so they could have originated from either place.

Cornwall / Johns family
« on: Sunday 16 June 13 13:55 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any contact with any members of the Johns family of Portloe Cornwall who might be interested in family history.  Two of our ancestors were raised by Uncles and Aunts of the Johns family and we are interested to know if anyone has any information about these two boys.  Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Europe / Italian records
« on: Monday 01 April 13 05:14 BST (UK)  »
I am beginning research on an Italian branch of the family.  Can anyone tell me if there are official birth, death and marriage records available to view?  I am looking for records of birth in Tuscany in 1878 and any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Thanks for the help eveyone, James Frederick and his family are known to us as we are in Australia, I am really trying to find any contacts for Edward through the Johns family who raised him.  I too found no children from his marriage to Sarah, so a living contact will be difficult.  I believe there are still some members of the Johns family living in Portloe, the Cornish village where the twins were raised, so I am hoping someone there could have some knowledge of the twins in their early years.  Will keep looking, never know what is around the corner.  Will have a look at Cornwall OPC, there might be something there. Thanks again in the meantime
Cheers

How I wish these older families would choose more interesting names for their children!!!  I have three Edward Charles Colletts in my tree and the one who married Doris Falconar was the nephew of the one who married Sarah!!!  Three generations of males, all with exactly the same name, no wonder us poor old family history researchers get in a muddle !!  Thanks again
Cheers

Thanks for the prompt reply re Edward's marriages - I already had a marriage for him to Sarah and, so far, had not looked any further.  Another marriage makes interesting reading.  I have not been able to find anything online re a divorce between Edward and Sarah, however these records are only available up to 1937 so he could have divorced between then and 1939 when it would look as if he married Doris.  I think I might request copies of both marriage certificates to clarify this one.  There were two children born to Edward and Doris, in Plymouth in 1940 and 1942.  Thanks again for this info and I will keep looking to see what else I can find.
Cheers
