Update: Some of my DNA matches on gedmatch: Margaret Hobson 1890 - 1980 who married George T Hawkins from the Glen of Imaal, Wicklow and moved to New Zealand.

I also found through another DNA match the link to Jones Family in Holdenstown, Baltinglass via Henry Jones who left his house in Holdenstown to his nephew Alfie Jones.  My DNA link is to Alfie's granddaughter.  My original brickwall was connected to my John and Susan Jones from Holdenstown, Baltinglass (parents of Harriet Sophia Jones bc 1843) who are buried in the COI graveyard in Rathvilly.

It's been awhile.  I decided to go down the DNA route and I now have a kit on My Heritage, Ancestry and GedMatch.  Have any of you done the same?  The Gedmatch has provided me with DNA matches to more families in The Glen, Knockanarrigan and also in Donard, Wicklow.  Caroline

CDN Many thanks for that.  Every little bit helps.  I will have a read through it and see does it throw anymore light on things. There were so many John Jones's in the area.  I'm very slowly getting there i.e. I now have the Holdenstown and Rathvilly connection.  Thanks again. Caroline

Further to my posts I have further information now.  Harriet Sophia Jones was Church of Ireland.  I found a record on her conversion to Catholicism which states her parents were John Jones and Susan Jones of Holdenstown.  I was also told by genealogist Fiona Fitzsimons that John and Susan Jones are buried in the Church of Ireland graveyard in Rathvilly. Susan Jones died 25/11/1847 and John died 22/12/1865.

Having looked through Harriet's children's baptism records the following names cropped up:
Edward Keogh, Margaret Abbey, Thomas Killian, Elizabeth White, Margaret Flinter, John Byrne, Rose Darcy, Richard Ovington.  I am particularly interested if anyone has an Ovington and Jones connection.

I took out the mention of living persons as advised.  Hope you are keeping well.  That record you posted mentions my grandmother as a witness.  Nice little surprise to discover this morning.  Thanks again
