Hello

Thanks redroger - I too suspect that you are right.

From reading back through the forum, I have pieced together what I think seems the most logical scenario to arrive at David Stanton. I attach a copy "tree" of my version and would welcome any comments or corrections or other ideas on it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Niall

Hello - I don't think that I have new information on David Stanton
I believe the timeline is approx as follows:
Born +/- 1814 in Willingham Cambrs
1841 living Hermitage Farm Haddenham, Cambs
1844 Married Sarah
1851 living Willingham Cambs occupation Horsedealer
1861 living Cottenham Cambs occupation Dealer
1871 living 10 Thomas St, Whitechapel, London, occupation Hay & Straw dealer
1881 living 29 Thomas St, Whitechapel, London, occupation Hay & Straw dealer
1890 wife Sarah died
1891 living with daughter Sarah in Middle Watch, Swavesey, Cambs, retired
1901 living with daughter Sarah at Trinity College Farm, Swavesey, Cambs
1903 I believe he died (but not sure)

I can find no birth or death records - but I believe that his father was William Stanton a farmer.

The only other information that I know is that David Stanton's business was called D Stanton & Sons and was continued by his younger son, Frederick. The business was originally hay & straw supplied to horses in London, but later on was involved with wartime salvage (I don't know if 1st or 2nd world war ) and operated from St Marks Street near Aldgate in London.

Another observation is that Thomas Street Whitechapel was right in the heart of Jack the Ripper terroitory and he was resident at that time!

Regards

Niall

Hello
David Stanton was my Great Great Grandfather.
I have just started researching & so am pretty new to this.
The only documented information I have found is on census records from 1841 through to 1901 - but I have no birth or death information.
I am keen to research further - any help is welcome! Likewise if I can share any infomation I have...
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Niall Howe
