Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Cheshire look ups - Macclesfield
« on: Wednesday 09 January 19 20:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Thank you both for your replies :)

I have the Latchford's in Astley/Atherton dating way back from Giles b 1782 and know about Margaret Mort who died in 1819 and is buried in Gawsworth. Cornelius then remarried twice. My reason for ruling out that this Giles is indeed my Giles buried in Macclesfield is that I have never been able to get over to Cheshire to search through the records, as many of these are not online. I have my Giles attending Macclesfield Sunday school in 1796 then marrying Elizabeth Oakes in Prestbury, then all the history of the family from then on in Macclesfield. I know somewhere they must be the same family, but have never been fully convinced that it was the same Giles until I had eliminated that there wasn't also one born in Macclesfield. Giles son William is my 3rd Great Grandfather, brother to Cornelius b 1815 who was a shopkeeper in Macclesfield. The Latchford family also trace back in Macclesfield, Gaswsorth, Prestbury as early as mid 1500's. Thank you both for looking :)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Cheshire look ups - Macclesfield

Just wondering if some kind person could look up the Latchford family in the parish registers for me. I have some confusion with a Giles Latchford b 1782 as far as I am aware in Macclesfield, all I can find online is a Giles Latchford born in Astley, with father Cornelius Latchford. I want to see it there was also a Giles baptised in Macclesfield at that time. My Giles Latchford and family after that are all baptised and buried in Macclesfield, they were silk weavers of Parsonage Street.

Hi
Just found you thread,

Wallwork families trace back to Worsley as early as 1278 this is the earliest I have gone back with finding Wallwork families.

I have added Jesse Wallwork's family tree to my website and will add some others when I get chance.

Some of the Clifton Wallwork's trace back to Outwood Pilkington.

Who are you trying to link together???

best wishes
Wallie

Lancashire / Latchford Family from Macclesfield and Astley
« on: Sunday 10 March 13 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help to link our Macclesfield Latchford family to the Astley/Leigh lot?

We have traced back to a Giles Latchford born in Macclesfield 1785 I know there is also a Giles Latchford born in Leigh in 1782/1785 with father Cornelius Latchford, then they trace back in Leigh for a few more generations.

Our Giles Latchford b 1782/1785 was baptised in Macclesfield, and there are Latchford's in the parish registers dating back further than 1782 in Macclesfield. Our Giles Latchford married Elizabeth Oakes in 1801 in Macclesfield.

I have all my Latchford family on the census tracing back to 1841 living in Parsonage Street, Macclesfield, so I know that he is not the Giles Latchford from Astley/Leigh.

see my website for our Macclesfield Latchford family tree
http://www.thewallworks.co.uk/

look under Latchford

The problem in that Giles, Cornelius, William, Harriet are all names that also run through the Leigh/Astley branch of Latchford's, I just wondered if anyone has managed to find a connection to our Latchford's in Macclesfield.

I know that the name Latchford comes from a small hamlet in Warrington, Latchford. Warrington being roughly between Macclesfield and Leigh/Astley.

Looking forward to any replies with any help.

kind regards

Lizzie (Wallie)

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 look up please for Quinn
« on: Tuesday 25 September 12 20:52 BST (UK)  »
Just to let anyone else know who is looking for the Quinn Family:-

Felix and Ellen Quinn were not my Michael Quinn's parents, his parents were Michael and Catharine both born in Ireland. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

So I am actually looking for a Michael Quinn who lived to be 102 in the USA and not a Felix Quinn.

Thanks once again to those who were able to help.

It really is disgusting the lack of respect for human life and their final resting places. We can only try and help! :)
