Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Minstead look up required please
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 20:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi Suffolk Sue,
The book I get the info from is dated 1817 so your request is later than that.
If you go get back to then, please give me a shout again, otherwise I am sorry at the moment I can not help you with your request.

There is a website called Knightroots that might be of help - you can search for it online. There hold a big list of births, deaths and marriages for the Hampshire area. That should be of help.

If you can then back back to around 1817 I might be able to help you further.

Regards
Vicky

Thank you Bearkat,
Your reply was quick as usual. Thank you. Hopefully this will tie up my friends tree with a very larger tree.
I had checked knighroots website but they do not as yet have Minstead records on there.
Thank you again.

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Minstead look up required please
« on: Tuesday 22 February 11 20:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am seeking more info on Thomas House and Anne Collingwood who married in Minstead on 19th May 1807. They I think had a son Thomas House bapt. 14 Dec 1817 at Minstead and siblings Joseph House bapt. 14 Nov 1813 Minstead. unnamed House bapt. 7 April 1816 Minstead and George House bapt. 7 Feb 1822 Minstead.

If this all ties in then I am seeking on when Thomas House the father was born and more info on his wife Anne, if possible please.

Info above was found on familysearch.
I look forward to any replies. Thank you.

This is not my family tree but someone else I am helping.

Waterford / Re: Strancally Castle& it's owners

I think I found the gates via google photos. I also found the website that shows them too.

I was not really interested in Keily family - just that they were in Strancally Castle before the Whitelocke Lloyds.
My ancestor sold the castle against his grandfathers wishes, sue to running costs. The new owners have been doing their best to restore the castle. They have added a great looking new fire surround, I also spotted that online.

Hi Toby,
Yes I saw the newspaper article about Keily being shot. Strancally Castle is still at present being lived in and a private house.
I know now that some of my Whitelocke family are buried there.

Hi Alverley historian,
Where was the tearoom?
Was it in England or Ireland?
I might have an idea if it was Ireland.
Regard
Vicky

Hi there,
Here is a real challenge - any help much appreciated
I have a elderly relative, who would love to know more about this, I have searched many times, but without results -

This is how the story goes -
Charlotte Margaret Binder( born 1888 daughter of Thomas William Binder) worked in Lyons Corner House as a waitress.
Every afternoon Lord Beresford came to have tea.
Charlotte ( known to the family as Lottie)  married Lord Beresford and they lived in London in a large house with servants.
They had two sons Rupert and Claude.

I am always a little scepticle about family stories, as they can get "twisted" over time but I have found the birth of the two sons -
Rupert Seymour Beresford 1907 and Claude Francis Beresford 1909
but can't find any details of a marriage ?

The plot thickens -
The story describes that they met a Lyons Corner house - but  Lyons Corner house's  did'nt open until 1909 ?? so she must have been a waitress somewhere else  ??

So I wonder,  did a very poor working girl like Lottie ( her father was a cobbler !) marry a rich man, or did she just go to London to work as a housemaid in the house and her family elaborate  the story ?

Any help much appreciated  :) :)

Ireland / Re: Seeking Merrick family either in Waterford or Dublin
« on: Saturday 10 April 10 08:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi Shane (again),
I hope you can help again. Ok yes that is the marriage of the Elizabeth Merrick - I was interested in. It is her father Patrick Merrick (an agent) who died before the marriage in 1944. What have you found? Percy and Elizabeth were living in Waterford pre-marriage but married in Cork.
What are my options?
Thanks
vicky
