The next time she appears is on her marriage certificate Details are: Margaret Agnes Rose Glasgo, age 28 years, Spinster, Occupation Nurse, married Charles Henry Poffley, Age 24 years, Bachelor, Occupation Railway Porter S.E.& C. Railway 26th March 1913 Dartford Registry office Kent.
How confident are you on the end digit '8' of Margaret's age at marriage? I see that in the FindMyPast index to the 1939 pre-war register Margaret L.A. POFFLEY's birth year is given as 1897 and Charles C. POFFLEY's 1889, both in the same household in Malling R.D. Kent. I've not 'unlocked' the household as there is a fee involved, but, if transcribed accurately, it seems they had a memory lapse on the details they provided at marriage!
Hi dee-jay,
Thanks for taking a look, here is the transcript of the 1939 record:
Margaret L A Poffley 28 Oct 1897 Female House Duties Unpaid Married 41 2
Charles C Poffley 16 May 1889 Male Barrack Labourer (R A S E) Married 41 1
The details i provided are from a marriage certificate, so yes there seems to be a bit of a discrepancy/untold truths (lying) there.
Also the transcription on the 1939 census record is also wrong, as in the original image that i just purchased, (i'm not sure if i can post it on here?) it says Margaret A Poffley. And the Date is wrong too, its actually 28th Oct 1887
