My uncle 'Frank Dack' was in the Gordon Highlanders, he lived in North Shields, Northumberland.
No 14207667
He was a prinsoner of War WW2 in Stalag V11-A

I was just scrolling through looking for ' Gordon Highlands ' and yours was the first one i came to.

Yes the first part is correct Samuel was in the Merchant Navy.
Your second response - my first thought was no because of the name Charles but when I looked at the link The ship went to Christmas Island .... I have a flag from 1956 Christmas Island H Bomb T !  I did not know which uncle it had belonged to but maybe it was Sammys ?

I have Frank Dacks Medals so I will try to get his service record.
I did this for another of my uncles but he was in the Navy I had them all framed.
I guess it would be a different place that stores the Army records though.

It is expensive but to have his photo, medals with a bit of history in a frame is keeps there memory alive.
