He was Lord Mayor of London in 1643, Goldsmith Company.

I had forgotten that Newington would then have been in Surrey and one would hope that a CoL vicar would know the other parishes.

So you are thinking that Wolworth = Walworth? Having read a bit more I agree as the Church of St Mary, Newington is in the Manor of Walworth.
