US Resources & Offers / Free access to the US Census, 1790-1930!!!
« on: Sunday 24 April 11 16:47 BST (UK)  »
This link is to the Allen Co. Genealogical Library who has made their films available to users for Free at archive.org.  The films include access to the US Census collection, 1790-1930, BUT IT IS NOT SEARCHABLE and each film has to be browsed page by page.  There other records available through this site as well. Good Luck! Dawn ;D

I have an orphan Death certificate for William Tricker, d. 1837, Hadleigh.  I had hoped it was for my 3G-Grandfather but alas mine was a malster by trade.  I live in the States but will gladly send this document to someone who is related to William Tricker, Saddler of Hadleigh.  Best wishes, Dawn

London and Middlesex / Re: Lambeth as part of Middlesex?

Thank you Gaie for the reply!  Luckily I'm a stubborn researcher who has the time to look for alternate ways to a database, using very broad search parameters or even browse page by page within a database but most people do not have that time.  New researchers will not only be confused and have greater difficulty locating records but their citations will be erroneous from the start as well.  I wish the the London Archives and Guildhall had chosen a company that values the records and their customers as Ancestry does not.

London and Middlesex / Lambeth as part of Middlesex?
« on: Saturday 17 April 10 15:27 BST (UK)  »
I've been struggling with search features at a prominent subscription site where the standard search of country then county failed to show certain records such as London Birth & Baptisms, etc. for my families  The majority of my standard searching was for records of family from Lambeth in Surrey or later London yet when I finally did navigate to the databases I was looking for to begin with I did find their records listed there.  I was stumped until I discovered that the batches of St. Mary At Lambeth parish records I looked at are transcribed and stored as Middlesex County despite the pages clearly citing Surrey as the county.  Using London didn't pull them up either.  I live in the States but learned that Lambeth was part of Surrey until the late 1880's when it was transferred to the London Registration district and now the Greater London area. Am I Lost?  Is there a Lambeth in Middlesex as well?  Has Lambeth moved?   ???

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism-Sawston/Whittlesford- SIMMONDS

Thank you Tempsford for your reply!  This might be just the family I'm looking for.  Elizabeth Simmonds Parker's birthplace in both 1851 & 1861 cite Sawston and her first daughter was named Sarah.  Thank you again! Dawn

Thank you so much for replying!  Besides the niece, Maria Simmonds, with the Parkers in 1851, I've found an IGI for a marriage for Jacob Parker and Elizabeth Simmonds in 1815.  While Parker and Simmonds are common the Jacob is not a common given name for Parker.  I did find 4 burials for Simonds/Symonds in Sawston/Whittleford parishes but the niece, marriage and these few burial mentions are all I have at the moment.  Again thank you for replying! :)

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Baptism-Sawston/Whittlesford- SIMMONDS
« on: Saturday 09 February 08 05:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find a baptismal record for Elizabeth SIMMONDS/SYMMONDS or siblings c. 1796.  I believe my GGG-Grandmother was a SIMMONDS/SYMMONDS, married Jacob PARKER in 1815, and the 1851 & 1861 censuses both cite her birthplace as Sawston, Cambridgeshire.  I've found only one record that is close in year and place but can't find another SIMMONDS/SYMMONDS with a birthplace of Sawston or Whittlesford during the approximate dates of Elizabeth.  Does someone have access to these parishes and could check for SIMMONDS/SYMMONDS around 1796 please.  Thank you very much for your assistance!  I'm beginning to doubt Elizabeth was really from Cambridgeshire! ???

Occupation Interests / Laborer, Malster? & S???ler- Help please
« on: Sunday 25 November 07 10:01 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find information about my GGG-Grandfather William Tricker, birth unknown and died before 1839.  William is the father of Richard Tricker, baptized 1815 in Hadleigh, Suffolk. William's wife is named Sarah and his occupation in 1815 is looks like Laborer, though the page is so faded I can't make it dark enough to scan and post. Another baptism for Eliza Tricker in 1813, parents also William & Sarah but here the occupation is S??ler. Richard's 1839 marriage cert.  has Father: William Tricker (deceased) and Father's occupation as Malster????.  I found a death reg. for William Tricker or Tucker, age 68, from 1837 in Hadleigh and this has William Tricker's occupation as  S????er (maybe Saddler).  Am I reading them wrong?
