Nottinghamshire / Re: Robert Nutty b.1794

Hi Martin,

It's Doreen here.  I sent you a message on Facebook earlier as I couldn't remember my password for this site but as you see I got it sorted.  If you email me I can fill in some blanks for you.

Glad to see you found both the Catholic & Protestant baptisms for John's children. I found that very interesting!  You will find the baptism for Robert's bpt 16 Nov.1794 in Dublin on the same site irishgenealogy.ie (church registers).

Look forward to hearing from you

Regards
Doreen

Cheshire / FOSTER - Birkenhead & Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm trying to trace the descendants of Michael Foster and Sarah Catherine Breen who married in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin in 1890. After 1911 they set sail for Birkenhead in Cheshire where they raised their seven children, Robert, Catherine, Blanche, Jane, Michael, Agnes and Patrick.

Sarah was my grandmother's sister and although I'm sure they kept in touch, they are all dead now and I would like to know more about this line of the family.

Regards

Henry Mahony married Eliza Nutty on 31st January 1875.
I'm hoping that someone researching the Mahony surname will have this couple in their family and will get in touch.

London and Middlesex / Re: Kate HAWKINS, Clerkenwell. Actress or seamstress
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 03:20 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Suz for your reply.  I have all the census records for her and even know the connection to the lodgers.  Now I'm wondering if her connection to the theatre was only a hobby or possibly a way to earn extra money.  I was hoping there might be records of those people working both on stage and behind the scenes in the theatre.  Thanks again for your help.

London and Middlesex / Kate HAWKINS, Clerkenwell. Actress or seamstress
« on: Sunday 26 June 11 18:54 BST (UK)  »
Kate Hawkins was born in Holborn in 1876.  On the 1911 Census it states she worked as a Druggist Assistant.  However, information passed down through the family said she had some connection with the theatre.  I don't think she was an actress, maybe a seamstress making the costumes.  Where could I check this out?  Also it is said she was a model for a shampoo advertisement.  I would like to find out if any of this information is true.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nottinghamshire / Robert Nutty b.1794

Hi,

Robert Nutty was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1794 and soon afterwards the family moved to Cork.  He married Matilda Waldrum in Nottingham in 1825 and as far as I know they had 11 children.  He lived the rest of his life in Nottinghamshire.  I would love to connect with someone who is also researching this family.

Cornwall / Gladys PASCOE from Fowey, Cornwall
« on: Friday 17 June 11 00:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Gladys Pascoe was born in Fowey, Cornwall about 1914 and died in Dublin in 1996.  She was a brilliant singer.  She sang with Charlie Nutty's band in Dublin and they married in 1943.

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me about her life in Cornwall and why she came to Ireland.

Dublin / Re: MAHER family of Bullock, Dalkey
« on: Monday 13 June 11 18:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi Shane,
I have checked the church registers in the National library but couldn't find him.  The 1901/1911 census states he was born in Co Dublin so maybe I missed the entry.  Need to go back and take another look.

Just to let you all know, Stephen sent me a PM and we are sure we are descended from two brothers.  Both of us are gathering the same information, so now we have to work together.  Discovered today that my great-aunt (not a Maher) was a witness at the marriage of one of his ancestors.

If there is anyone else who has an interest in this family, please get in touch.
Best wishes
Doreen

Hi,

I'm looking for information about John Maher b. c 1822 who lived in the cottages at Bullock Harbour, Dalkey.  He had a son Christoper born in the early 1850's and lived in Dalkey with his wife and four sons.  John Maher had a brother James Maher who also lived in this area.  Some of the surnames linked to the family are: O'Keeffe, Tallant, McDonald and Stapleton.  I'm interested in hearing from anyone connected with this family.
