Devon / John POLLARD - married 1792 Talaton
« on: Sunday 03 July 11 11:37 BST (UK)  »
One of my ancestors was John Pollard who married Elizabeth Fuzzey/Fursey at Talaton in 1792.
I believe he was baptised 22 Sept 1765 at Broadclyst, son of John Pollard and Susanna (nee Passmore) who married there three years earlier. But where did John senior come from? Any help would be appreciated.

John,
Sorry not to have replied to your private message. I am new to Rootschat and couldn't work out how to reply (answer: I don't think I can yet as I haven't posted enough messages!)

When I went back to check, I couldn't find Thomas's birth registration. BUT I think he may have been illegitimate but still somehow registered with the father's name (it des happen) so not showing up as Thomas Glew/Glue. If this is the case, then his mother could be Susan Glue, born Q2/1849 Chichester

John,
I have been researching men from the Bracknell area killed in WWI - Thmas Glew's name is on the memorials at Easthampstead Chruch so he is on my list (have you visited the church?)

I too was stumped for the 1881/1891 Census entries until I found Thomas Glue who I am certain is the right man. His birth is in the Midhurst, Sussex district (Q2/1877).

Regards,
Andrew
