« on: Monday 07 May 12 16:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi I got your message in my post the other day SAMPSON ASHTON married my great x 2 grandmother Elisa Sarah's sister Rachel , their son Thomas was left behind with her sisters till he also emigrated later on. I have a little on the Clayton's somewhere that I looked up many years ago which I will try and dig out....not sure where I put the stuff when I moved a couple of years ago .... I am also in contact with some of Rachel and Sampson's  descendants in New Zealand (also on Facebook)

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Lilley and Stone School for girls Newark
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 16:02 BST (UK)  »
Could anyone please help me  to find out any information about the above school in the early 1970s, I have found a distant relative who attended the school.  Was this a private school or college? and where exactly was the school.  I wondered if the school had changed its name over the years.  Many thanks to anyone who read this request.
Kind regards Susan

Hi Susan,
I know that you wrote this a long time ago....and have already been helped. As you have been told it was a girls school and you had to pass the 11 + to get a place ..... I went to the school in the 70's so your distant relie may have even been in my class LOL It turned into a comprehensive school after I left in 1977. Do you need more info ? I am in touch with a few old school friends on facebook if you need to know anymore just ask.... I know it can be awkward to find "living" people that sometimes can give you clues to family members as this happened to me several times as there are a few skelies in the cupboards on two of my family branches :o and are hard to follow up without upsetting someone asking in the family.
Kind regards
Annette
