Fynet/Finaeta was certainly married to William Ryng as this entry in the Pettistree register makes clear:

"16 Oct 1599, William Ryng son of William Ryng deceased who was accidently killed upon Martlesham in the summer last past and Fynet his wife, now a widow, was baptised."

I didn't find the marriage of Fynet and William so I don't know her maiden name.

Hello Steve
That is very exciting. I had almost given up finding him in Suffolk. What you give fits very well - the unusual name Nathanyell (Nathaniel), the closeness to Leiston and the year (the earliest date I have for him is his matriculation at Cambridge in 1622). Many thanks.

You say you haven't checked it out but where did you find  him?

Have you Collington connections? If so we can provide much on his descendants.

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Mickfield PRs - COLLINGTON

Rick,
I shoud have amended this to say that I had searched the Mickfield registers myself and so the request was no longer needed.

However Nathaniel Collington remains a brick wall and I still think he was born somewhere in Suffolk.

Thanks for the reply Briann,
My original post on Elizabeth Lushington was in 2004 and I have since made significant progress on her ancestors from my own work with Parish Registers and also thanks to Larry Tate who has done marvelous work with early wills.
Regarding Elizabeth Lushington, yes that is the same person though I recorded her christening from the PR as 27/6/1731. She married John Collington of Leaveland on 27/12/1755 at Leaveland. She was buried at Leaveland 24/2/1793.
The Elizabeth Lushington who was buried at Elmsted in 1778 was I believe the second wife of Elizabeth Lushington's father John. She was Elizabeth Knowler and there is a 1750 marriage licence for her and "John Lushington, widr, of Elmsted".
I now have the Lushington ancestry back to Henry of Smeeth as well, thanks to Larry Tate. This includes your Ann Lushington and Thomas Newport. Maybe your information is from the same source? If you have independent research I would be very interested to compare trees.

Thanks for the suggestions Ken. I will certainly investigate them. Just out of interest what led you to those villages?

Thanks Clincher,
It might be worth looking at Bradfield. My Nathaniel's christening may have been entered as Cullington. Given the period, spellings are not consistent and in fact his entry in Emden's register of early Cambridge graduates does spell his name as Cullington, though in all other records I have found, he is Collington.

He may sound posh but he entered Cambridge as a sizar (student of limited means) so I expect his origins were humble.

I have not found any Harwich connection.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Leiston PR's - COLLINGTON
« on: Tuesday 13 September 05 08:59 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor Nathaniel Collington left money to the poor of Leiston when he died. This may be a clue to his birth/marriage. I have already checked Leiston christenings and he is not there. As he was a curate at nearby Kelsale I am now speculating that his wife came from Leiston and hence would have married there.
If some kind person has access to early Leiston marriages could they please look for the marriage of Nathaniel Collington in the period 1635 to 1645. I don't know his wife's name.

Thanks
