Dorothy May Soderholm is my dads sister :) If I remember rightly I was told she married Peter Taylor in 1952.
Dorothy lost both her dad and husband the same year.
I have a little more info if still needed>

Cork / Re: St. Marys Roman Catholic Parish, Boherbue, County Cork.

I would be most interested if you received any replies to your request,  as my Jane Elizabeth Walsh born about 1806 is from  the same parish. I wonder if your Mary and my Jane are related in any way. I saw on one website that the church records for St Mary's only from 1830 onwards.
I would love to find out more. Jane emigrated on the Edward Coulston from Liverpool in 1833 in response to an advert in the Cork Constitution calling for young unmarried females 18-13 to come to Australia.
Cheers Tracy

Hi there!
I wonder if there is a link to research the records at St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Boherbue, County Cork.
Having all but given up on researching my Irish ancestors I have come across a Mary Walsh and a John Twomey in that parish and although the surname I have for John is "Tomney" I thought it near enough to have a look at it.
My Mary Walsh was born abt 1817 and John abt 1821.
If I can find that a Mary Walsh and a John Twomey (Tomney) married in that parish then I am home and dry, at least that is my hope.
They were definitely Roman Catholic and had three children - Mary born 1836, Elizabeth born 1840 and John born 1848 when my great grandfather Edward Stephen was born 1849 on Spike Island , County Cork. (The whole family were on Spike in John's business capacity of clothiers broker, but moved to England by the 1851 census which just gives Ireland as their place of birth except for Edward Stephen who I know was born on Spike Island.)
I have tried before to nail them down to a parish and this is the closest I have got so if anyone can help I would be most grateful,
Jean.

Occupation Interests / Re: Accoutrement Maker

There was Bryan & Price & Co accoutrement makers of 8-9 Dacre Street Westminster, (which happens to be across the road from Scotland Yard according to Google). If I could find information on them maybe could find a list of employers.

I have no idea where Robert was born that is what I would love to find out. He had 3 other children John b.1818, Robert b.1820 and Elizabeth b.1824. I was given this information but I don't have the record.

This Robert Thomson on 1841 census at Dacre Street, St. Margarets, Westminster, Middlesex just to confuse the issue even more. The ages of  boys are out,
Robert THOMPSON (45) sadler (My Robert was a saddler on Mary's death cert.)
Jane THOMPSON (45)
John THOMPSPON (20) Co Painter [coach painter?]
Robert THOMPSON (30) ditto
All born Scotland. Unfortunately, the 1841 English census doesn't give relatiionships within the household.

Hi Ruskie,
William and Mary came out to Australia the same year they married, I don't think they were on the census. Not sure when the census was but they left around April/ May 1841.
I thought maybe Robert remarried an Ellen Fleming but don't know at this stage.

16 April 1841,  Rosie, There was a Military uniform factory in 16-19 Dacre Street Westminster London, I have the name of the owners somewhere, I will see if i can find them. Its possibly the address but in the 1841 census there is a Robert Thomson Saddler and wife Ann in Westminster Middlesex as well which makes it confusing.

Armed Forces / Edinburgh City Guards
« on: Friday 14 September 12 13:31 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor William Beaton b.c1700 was married in the 1735 to Jane Smith. On their marriage record it states William was a Soldier of the Edinburgh City Guards. I haven't found much information on these guards  except they were a bunch of fools. Would there be records available and if so where would be the best place to search.
Thanks you Tracy

Carmarthenshire / Marks
« on: Friday 14 September 12 13:15 BST (UK)  »
My great grandmother was born in Carmarthenshire. Her name on my grandfather Reg Emery (b.1899 Bristol) marriage and death certificates was Annie Marks. I have never been able to find any information on her except the 1901 census,  so I got my grandfather's brother Douglas Emery's birth record from England and his mothers name on it was Catherine nee Marks. (My great grandfather's name was William Robert Emery he was born in Cardiff) I can remember my grandfather calling a lot of the females in the family Annie so was this a common nickname?
Thanks Tracy

Occupation Interests / Accoutrement Maker

My 3 x great grandparents Scottish marriage record has  the following. William Beaton Mason Residing in No 2 Beaumont PLace in the Parish of St Paul's within this Parish and Mary Thomson, late of 17 Dacre Street Westminster, presently Residing in 8 Queens Place Greenside, Edinburgh. Daughter of Robert Thomson Accoutrement Maker. No 17 Dacre Street aforesaid ....

I have been trying to find information on Robert Thomson. Would anyone know where this Dacre Street, Westminster would be. I found two locations only, one in London and the other in another part of England.
An Accoutrement Maker is a maker of military uniforms and buttons etc. On my Mary's death record it has her father as a saddler and her mother as Ellen Fleming, but her mother was Ann Allen, All of Mary's records including shipping state her birthplace as Edinburgh or Scotland. I know the info on records is only as good as the information the person has knowledge of.
Would appreciate any help on where I can look. Thank you. Tracy
