Hello GayGirl

I have a possible birth for one of my Tanners who are from Gloucestershire.  Frederick Arthur TANNER b. 1856. Cheltenham. Have you come across any details for him or his parents during your research :)[email  Moderator comment - email address removed to prevent spamming and other abuses, please use the Pm system to pass such information

I am researching the Tanners from  Dursley, Eastington, Nupend, Wheatenhurst, Wotton Under Edge areas.   Are any of your Tanners from these areas.

David Tanner married Charlotte Carter.  David b. abt 1811 Wotton Under Edge?

Hi Mackiwi

I use a site at the Auckland Museum (online) in regards to service personnel including the 1914-18 war.

http://www.aucklandmuseum.com

Look for "Cenotaph Database" on the right hand side of the page.
It also has photos of a great deal of the servicemen.

There is also the commonwealth War Graves site

www.cwgc.org

Happy Hunting

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 Gloucestershire Lookup Please. TANNER

:)  Thank you Pauline, Thank you so much.  I am curios though as to what the Launer means. Is this there surname do you think?.
I presume that Charlotte was the Charlotte Carter that I found previously married to a David Tanner ,and David has possibly pre- deceased the 1861 Census. Charlottes  mothers name is Carter so this points to a possible match.

Regards
Linda

Could someone please do a lookup for me on the 1861 Gloucestershire Census.

Frederick Arthur Tanner born abt 1856-8 Gloucestershire, son of David Tanner and Matilda, possibly Charlotte Matilda ..........
Also brother William born abt 1854 Gloucestershire. Both sons emmigrated to New Zealand aboard the Hannibal in 1875. I have come to a brick wall. David is believed to have been a Plumber. The area could be Eastington, but not certain.

I am researching the family of David Tanner and Matilda ? from Gloucester/shire. Their sons Frederick Arthur Tanner b. c. 1856 and William b.c. 1854 both emmigrated to NZ on the Hannibal in 1875 as Colonial Nominated Men. David Tanner was a Plumber and Glazier, .   I don't know if William returned to England as I have no further knowledge of him in New Zealand.  David Tanner believed to have been born possibly  Herefordshire or Monmouthshire.
