Hi SorKir

Nice to meet another person researching this family.

Can I ask which one of William's children are you descended from?

The correct tree for this particular BAMBROUGH branch is as follows

1)  James Bambrough 1888-1918  married to Margaret Beatrice NEWMAN 1886-1931

His parents were

2)    William Bambrough
born 25 Dec 1851 Houghton le Spring, Durham (this has also been confirmed on the census's for 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901)
died 1916 Houghton le Spring, Durham
occupation on all the census was coal miner

he married Ann SWALLOW in 1873 at Houghton le Spring, Durham.  And had 7 children

Williams parents (and James's grandparents) were:

3)    james BAMBROUGH
born 31 Jul 1825 Houghton le Spring, Durham (as confirmed by the census for 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881)
died 1888 in Houghton le Spring, Durham

He  married to Dorothy HESLOP in 1850 in Chester le Street, Durham.  They had 10 children

This James's parents were:

4)    William BAMBROUGH
born 4 May 1794 in Washington, Durham (as confirmed from the census for 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871)
Died 1876 in Hetton le Hole, Durham

He married Margaret THOMPSON in 1819 in Houghton le Spring, Durham.  They had 7 children.

William married a 2rd time to a Elizabeth USHER in 1866 in Houghton le Spring, Durham.  (also confirmed from 1871 census)

William's parents were:

5)  John BAMBROUGH and Elizabeth (maiden name as yet unknown)
They had 3 children, all born in Washington, Durham.
John died in 1833 in Houghton le Spring, Durham and Elizabeth died in 1849(yet still to be confirmed)

As yet no birth or marriage date has been found for John.

All of the above information has been confirmed through certificates, church records and census records.

« on: Wednesday 14 April 21 22:58 BST (UK)  »
thanks :)

I looked at the Cornwall OPC database - they don't seem to include parents names on the marriages - or not on any of the ones for me.

maybe they weren't recorded on the church records ?

I"ll put her on hold for now

Northumberland / Re: James THOMPSON (Mariner) and his family
« on: Saturday 10 April 21 12:43 BST (UK)  »
there are 10 possible James Thompson's on the 1841 census that could be him.  Only 1 has a Isabella but her age is off by almost 10 years so could be them but also might not be.

there is another Isabella Thompson death that could match - in Durham in 1855 and her age is right so it's a toss up between this one and the 1850 at the moment.

Sadly with a name like Thompson I think it's going to be very hard to track him down.

thanks so much

I have a possible death - a James Thompson 4 Feb 1851 Durham occupation listed as Master Mariner - this was from the probate records online so haven't yet confirmed if him

there are probably a lot of James Thompson, mariners I would imagine so I know he is going to be super hard to find

Northumberland / James THOMPSON (Mariner) and his family
« on: Friday 09 April 21 01:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I know this is a big ask due to THOMPSON being so common but wonder if anyone can help me or steer me into the right direction.

I am looking for a James Thompson born c1775 who was a mariner and who married Isabella BAULK (sometimes spelt Balk, Bark and Bank) at St Andrews, Newcastle upon Tyne 29 Dec 1799.

I have so far found the following children, though I believe there is at least 1 more son.
Margaret  5 oct 1801
John 28 sep 1806
Christopher 21 aug 1808
all were bapitsed in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I would like to know if there were other children.

And also more about the father James Thompson, such such his parents, where he was born, etc.

many thanks

Hi

I am trying to find out further information about Robert Wray's parents.

It is believed that Robert was bapt. 6 Mar 1796 Hutton Rudby, Yorkshire and that his parents were John WRAY and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown).

I have not been able to find any siblings for Robert or further information about his parents.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Christopher BEADNELL and family
« on: Saturday 05 September 20 22:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching the BEADNELL family who lived in and around Stokesley and am trying to fill in any gaps that I have.

I have managed to find out quite a bit about Christopher BEADNELL (bapt  25 Jan 1752 Stokesley
died 3 Oct 1841 Richmond)

He married 3 times
1st marriage to Mary CALVERT in 1778 in Stokesley.  She gave him 2 children, a daughter Mary and a son Christopher.
So far I have been unable to find her death

2rd marriage to Margaret IMESON (may also be spelt as IMENSON and possible also as EMERSON)
in 1789 in Richmond.  She gave him 2 daughters - Margaret and Ann

3rd marriage to Hannah IMENSON (would love to find out if she is related to Margaret above) in 1798 in York.  She gave him 3 daughters and 1 son - Hannah, Ann, Jane and William Imeson

Christopher parents were William BEADNELL and Ann HUNTER.  They had 4 other children along with Christopher (who was the eldest) - these other children were William, Sarah, James and Mary.

Any information about this family including about his wives would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
