Hi Folks.

Thanks for all the responses. Alas I know further on in ascertaining her birth date. Starting from death and working forward I've listed what I have.
Throughout all these records her name will be Cora, Cora Mary, Cora Mary Ann.
On several documents her father's name is John Lane.
On several documents her birth place is London.

Death: 1915, Age 84. Birth date 1831.
1911 Census: Age 74. Birth date 1836
1901 Census: Age 59. Birth date 1842
1891 Census: Age 54. Birth date 1837.
1881 Census: Age 45. Birth date 1836
1879. Marriage records she is just down as "full". married to William A King
1871 Census: Age 40. Birth date 1831
1861 Census: Age 32. Birth date 1829.
1859 Marriage records Age 39 Birth date 1820 married to Christopher Waller.
Nothing found in 1851 & 1841 census records
As you can see the birth dates vary. I can accept those 1836/1837 as being the same person.
Those varying between 1829/1831 could be taken as one person but concerned in linking them to the above dates.
the spanner in the works is the 1820 date on marriage to Christopher Waller and yet I've seen several different copies showing this date.
As stated in previous post in 1861 census a male bearing the name William John Smith age 9 is at the address. It can therefore be assumed he is her child from previous marriage. This would make his birth date to be circa 1851. as noted above no records for either Cora Smith or Lane  in 51&41 census records.

Love to hear your comments.

Hi there. Thanks to rosie99 & chempat for the replies and with the additional info. With regards to the replies from chempat. I agree with you regarding the mothers age and there lies one of my problems. As I say. In all documents I've found on various sites. Her name, whilst with slight variations ( Cora,Mary, Smith, Lane), Cora Waller, Cora Smith, Cora Lane and finally with my ancestor - Cora King and that convinces me that in each case it is her. However, the spanner in the works is her DOB. If I take the earliest one then as you say she would be too old for any children with my ancestor, but if I use 1836 or indeed 1831 then it's possible.
she was  indeed a widow when she married Christopher Waller (Cumbria parish register 10/09/1859) and then a widow when she married William A King. Yes! to being in 1861 census and yes to her in 1871 census although in 1861 he's a painter (no great issue).
So you see. Do I look for possible descendants bearing the name King or assume that she was too old?

Hi There. I refer in particular to William A King and his wife Cora M King. Before I can complete her profile I still have some anomilies.  In marriage records she is known as Cora M Waller. If I follow this through then she married Christopher Waller on 10/09/1859 and her name was Cora Mary Ann Lane Smith, a widow and her father was John Lane.

Anomoly 1: On marriage records with C Waller she is 39 with a birth date 1820.
Anomoly 2: On marriage records with William A King she is just down as "full" age but in i881, 1891 census records her birth date is recorded as 1836.
Anomoly 3. On 1915 death records she is 84 with a birth date 1831

Are they all different women and which one do I accept? what makes it difficult is each record has corresponding details which makes them all acceptable.

In addition I cannot find marriage for her with Smith. I do know that in 1861 census whilst married to Waller there is a boy William John Smith Age 9. Whilst he is down as Son-in-law I'm sure he is stepson to Christopher Waller and her child.

Any advice would be grateful.

Hi there.  I have to ancestors for whom I would love to know more about.
1 William A King. Born: 15/12/1833 in Whitehaven. Possibly died circa 1896 and  possibly in Keswick. (Not to be confused with other WA Kings from the same family).
He married Cora Mary Waller 10/02/1879 in Liverpool.I believe this was her 2nd marriage and her maiden was Smith. Not yet confirmed. I would like to know more about her. Also I've no records of children to this couple.
2.Robert Dixon King. Born: 1844 in Whitehaven. Died: possibly 1897 but unsure.
He married Mary Emily Barr 25/08/1878 in Liverpool. This seems to also be her second marriage as she too seems to be called Smith. I'd like to have more on her  and again I've no records of children for this couple. His death date is uncertain as her was a mariner and possibly died at sea. When married they were living at Prussia Street, Liverpool. Any info would be great.

I can certainly confirm that Edgar's 1st wife was indeed Ann Jane Rowan. ( it was her mother who was Ann Jane Geddis).  I've found James Edgar on the death register for Ann Jane Rowan and he's listed as her son. ( She died 21/12/1885 age 52 ). Having visited the local records office and scanned the church records available ( many churches in Northern Ireland hold the records locally and access to these is nigh on impossible). A John Edgar is recorded born 1872 in Meigh, ( this coincidentally  is where Margaret Edgar ( Great Grandmother mother )was born, recently discovered . Another coincidence is the birth year of this John Edgar is the same as Minnie. (possible twins). Edgar's exact birthplace is a mystery as researching local records throw up several Hamilton Edgars within the same region.

Back doing family research and thought I'd update folk on what I've got and to clarify some points. Hamilton Edgar married Ann Jane Rowan (nee Geddes) Then married Ann Jane Malloy (nee Legate). both these marriages took place in Co Down, Ireland. He then married Joan Donaldson (nee Campbell).
in Dundee, Scotland. So what took a man. living in Rural Co Down to Dundee? Speculation: His daughter Minnie (not Maggie) got married the year before so he was there for that. She married Alexander Campbell Donaldson the son of Joan Donaldson who was herself a window at the time.
