Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: family bible mystery - help please!!!!
« on: Saturday 16 September 23 19:09 BST (UK)  »
George Barton (1798-1847) was my GGGGrandfather. He married Jane Colenutt (1793-?) on 9th Dec 1821 at St Mary's Portsea. They had 7 children, George Robert Barton was the eldest (1823-1861).
GR Barton married Betsey Shiner (1823-?) 11th Jan 1846 at Alverstoke.
Other names associated with this family are: Riddett (from IOW) and Peill(from Kent)
I do have more details of this family if it is of any use to you let me know.
How they come to have a reference in your bible is a real mystery from the Barton side too, it appears.
Sandra  :)

I have sent you a private message asking for your email address so I can send you a photo of the bible cover. I am very interested how the Riddetts fit in as that is a name on my husband's side which is amazing!

Sussex / Pearsons in 1839

I am hoping someone can help. I have found 3 siblings Thomas, Emily and Elizabeth all buried in 1839 but can't find a record for their brother John and he does not appear on the 1841 census with his parents William and Elizabeth and brother Richard. The others were buried in Ewhurst in a 3 week period between April 9th and May 2nd.

Trying to find out more about William Pearson born around 1805 I think In Ewhurst  - He married Elizabeth Griffin and they had 5 children
Richard 1840
Henry 1842
Louis/Lewis 1844
Phefmeus (I think) 1848
Roland 1851

have a practically illegible copy of the 1861 census with him on but cant make out much detail - it was emailed to me and have lost contact with the source. Found other family members in Sussex in 1881.

will keep digging to see if I can find anything else to help
grateful for any help
