Technical Help / Re: Smart Meter question
« on: Friday 21 September 18 20:40 BST (UK)  »
I THINK I've managed to make my supplier realise I don't want one when I scrolled right down to the bottom of the email  and found an Opt Out button.  This took me to a page asking me why but with a box to tick if I didn't want to say !!!!!

Anyway Ive not had a call/email for 2 weeks so fingers crossed.

BUT Im now being bombarded with emails telling me Id save money if I went with dual fuel from them.  They already know I don't have gas to the property  :-)

Ive just found a relative on the 1939 Reg on Ancestry transcribed as a Metal Detective ? On further investigation I found, sadly, it should read Mental Defective

Thanks Girl Guide
On the 39 REg it has her as Joan.  Additional notes say Marjorie Joan which is what she is registered as at birth.  Unfortunately the date on the marriage note is illegible.   The registration of that noted marriage is for a Marjery

I just wondered really how much weight we can attach to the added notes and when were they added.   These particular notes appear to be in green ink (Biro?)when other notes on the page are clearly made by a fountain pen

Family History Beginners Board / Accuracy of 1939 Register Added Notes?
« on: Monday 21 May 18 11:07 BST (UK)  »
While browsing I came across an unknown daughter of one of my distant relations (I'd thought they'd only had children that died in infancy).  Checked her out and she is definitely theirs :-)  However theres a handwritten note giving her married name which is fine BUT when I checked this the spelling of her first name is different in the records.   I can find an alternative marriage with her name spelt correctly to someone else.  So how much reliance can I place on the note?  (Both marriages took place in the war years)

Opinions /advice please

I have a relative who was in the RAF and was shot down and killed in April 1918.  I have researched his regiment etc to see if I could find a photo but nothing.   I then found out where he was educated and went to their site and found a school photo of him.
