Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Susanna MOON
« on: Monday 16 July 12 07:34 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Fizzy.

From a court case in Australia, have found that Susan had a brother Joseph Moon born abt 1808 who married Faith Mudge in Devon. 3 children:
They had a son Philip abt 1831 Chagford, Devon
John Henry abt 1836 St Blazey
Martha abt 1834 died 1835 St Blazey
Faith died abt 1838 St Blazey.

Remarried to Jane Varcoe in 1843 St Austell
one child
Martha abt 1844 St Austell

Cant find them anywhere on 1841 or 1851 census. 1851 happy with as they are meant to have emigrated in 1847 on board the Cressy.

Susan's  4 eldest children also emigrated on the Cressy at the same time.
William, George, Susan and Catherine.

I have been searching but can't find Philip and Mary's marriage either.

I feel Philip maybe the son of Joseph Moon and Elizabeth Brown born abt 1766 in Liskeard.

Any clarification would help.

Thanks
Elizabeth

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Looking for John Moon
« on: Friday 06 July 12 11:02 BST (UK)  »
There was a long flowery description of what a great person he was, how long he had worked for the Audit Office and his salary, and to cap it all, it gave the ages in years and months of all 10 children. This gave John's birth date clearly as August 1828.
John Born 8 Feb 1828, baptised 6 Jan 1832 at St Pancras Old St Pancras. Parents Theophilius deceased and Isabella Moon. Catherine and Henry also baptised on the same day.

Thank you all who assisted.
I think I will call this complete.
I like the idea that he was in 1. Königlich Sächsisches Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr.100 (1st Royal Saxon Guard Grenadier Regiment No.100).

Is there any way to find out if Mary (Nee Bladon) Roden remarried after Aaron's death? or her date of demise?

Thankyou Gwynne. :)
Will add that to my tree. It would also explain why no more children found.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Aaron Roden bpt 1762
« on: Wednesday 02 November 11 02:55 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for more information on Aaron Roden baptised 1762 with a brother Moses.
He married Mary Bladon in 1789 at Eyton Upon The Weald Moors, Shropshire, England.
i can not find a death for either Aaron or Mary.

I am looking for a daughter Hannah born about 1800. She died and was buried at Varteg, Monmouthshire, aged 62 from headstone in 1862.

Aaron and Mary had 4 children that I can track so far.
William 1790
Ann 1792
Ann 1794
John 1797

Hannah married James Beard in Llanfoist in 1819.

On her sons baptism in 1830 it states Hannah is the daughter of Aaron and Mary Roden.
In 1851 on census in Wales Hannah is listed as born in Wellington Shropshire.

This is what makes me think Aaron is Hannah's father.

If any help can be given would be grateful.

Hi,
The couple are married she has a ring on, and I know they married Nov 1872, so could it be the Franco Prussian medal in that time line?

It's a pity I can't get a clearer view of the epaulette. Do you still think we have the right regiment with Nr. 100

Thanks for the info on the other two. I agree it is unlikely to be my Ferdinand.
Can't get the hang of this quote thing. Sorry

One of  The Ancestry record reads roughly:
Iron Cross in 1870 second class on Black gang.

11555 Grund, Ferdinand Grenadier in 2 Dstpruess. Gren. -Regt. Nr.3

i don't know what Dst is, Guess might be Dresden,  preuss probably abbrev. of Prussian.
I can't see an Iron cross anywhere on the uniform. Only the round one in the picture.

The other is a casualty list . Abdominal wound. 1870-1871

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Susanna MOON
« on: Monday 24 October 11 03:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

This is a new lookup resulting from a thread in Devon Lookups.

Susanna MOON born abt 1792  Fowey,
Parents Philip and Mary MOON.

Any further information welcome.

What I know at present

Previously requested marriage detail in Stoke Dameral.
3 susanna's could have been bride.
Other 2 I can trace but not this one who looks more likely to be mine.

Susanna married George Trenowth/ Ternouth (pick your spelling ) in 1817.
Susanna was a widow in 1841 census and listed as Frnouth on Ancestry.
Has 5 children living with her. Age on this census 45. Rounding means anywhere from 1792-1796. Born in County.

She emigrated to Australia in 1851 in Jan so will not be on 1851 census.

Died in South Australia in 1867 aged 75.

Looking for information on her parents and sibling is possible.

Thanking you
Elizabeth
