Hi Squirrel,

The Fleece public house was demolished about two years ago. It stood oposite a row of shops in Northgate, Headland, Old Hartlepool.

Thanks Jan and Kerry,

I have used the service you mention some years age, but that was for a single document.  This find looks like a large amount of paperwork.

Sussex / west sussex records office
« on: Friday 05 June 09 21:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I have some good news to share. Today I stumbled upon a collection of documents and letters belonging to my gx5 grandfather " Dennett Jaques".

But I have a problem I don't know where to go from here. These documents are at the national archives, west sussex records office and I live hundreds of miles away so cannot visit.

I have all of the relevent reference and catalogue numbers. Can anyone tell me what to do next?

thanks Bumblebee,

I already knew about the huguenot society. I've just had a quick look at the other one.

I have hit a bit of a brick wall with my Jaques research. I live in the north and it would seem that all the records I need ot check are in the south and not available online.

Census and Resource Discussion / IGI a bit messed up ?
« on: Tuesday 26 August 08 17:20 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone having the same problems as me lately with the IGI.  It seems to me that there is a lot more misinformation than there used to be.

I know we are putting our trust in other peoples accuracy when using these records (and we all make mistakes) but recently some of the entries seem very sloppy.

Do you think it is worth using anymore?

The Common Room / children evacuated in ww2

Does anyone know if there is a register or information for children who were evacuated in the second world war (on line preferably)?

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: Graves in grave danger !

One of our oldest local cemeteries is in very poor condition, with most of the stones fallen.  The council will not allow the stones to be corrected because they say the earth is too soft and it would be a danger.

I surpose that when this site was chosen a hundred or so years ago health and safty was not considered.
