Wow JJ,

That was a fantastic find and a truly fasinating read. I would love to include that on my webpage, do you know the person responsible for it?

Hi Debbie and PB,

Many thanks for that. He is 'my man'. I too am also guilty of not double checking, hence the posting about Raymond marrying an Isobel Crouch.

Hi Debbie,

Ignore the birthplace - it was St Leonards on Sea (somewhere I am very familiar with), I was working on a Funnell from Lewes when I replied. He was still born in 1894 though.

Thanks for that Debbie.

Not sure this is the Raymond I was following. According to the 1901 census he was born in 1894 in Lewes, Sussex. Ancestry only has 1 Raymond Harrison and he was listed as being born in Lewes in 1894 also.

Aah, digging deeper, I now see where the confusion may be.

Raymond Harrison Funnell must have emmigrated to Cnada sometime after 1901 as I have found a tree which says he married an Isabel Crouch in Winnipeg and he died in Winnipeg.

They don't appear to have any passenger information for him on Ancestry so cannot double check.

Hi JJ,

Having just moved onto researching Isaac's brother Clement, I have discovered Raymond Harrison Funnell! He is the son of Clement Funnell and his second wife, not the son of Isaac and Eliza. Wonder how the tree owner will take the news.

Hi,

I follwed Isaac's progress from the birth of his grandparents and he was born in Lewes, Sussex, England.  I used the various census and Isaac and Eliza definitely had 5 children born in Lewes. When I originally posted the question, I inadvertantly left out Albert although I di have him in my information. None of my information was gathered from other people's family trees as they are not always correct as you, JJ, had noticed in the one you pointed out.

I believe the children have been mixed up somewhere along the line by somebody.

Thank you again for this input. It has answered a lot of questions and given me more to write about. Not sure how Ella came to be born in Canada when the family were living in England and as for Raymond? I have no idea. That needs some thought.
