There's a George born in 1885 and a John William born in 1887 both with mothers maiden name Johnson.  Both Gateshead.

There is a baptism for a George Chambers on 25 Mar 1885 in Gateshead, parents Benjamin and Annie Chambers.

Is this one of the reasons you think that John, father, may also have the name of Benjamin?

There is also this www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1695000

Have you tried searching the Valuation Rolls? I tried searching for 143 Old Govan Road but no results at all for any numbers in Old Govan Road. If you search with the surname and Govan Road you may find something on there.

I had a look at that tree also, Colin. Of note is that none of the children for him were called Thomas or Janet. I can't see anything so far that would connect this George to Scotland with confidence www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/30154681/person/232342610780/facts

This George Hume is listed from at least 1819-1843 here https://londonwiki.co.uk/LondonPubs/Cripplegate/GrapesWhiteCross.shtml showing as Brewer and Victualler at The Grapes, 24 White Cross Street Cripplegate. He must have been in London by 1808 when he married a Sarah Royce. Christenings of two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, in 1812 listed him as a Victualler.

The 1841 census shows him at White Cross Street with his two sons. Although he died in Reigate, Surrey, his burial was actually in the Parish of St Giles without Cripplegate on 24 October 1844.

Is he the son of Thomas and Janet though?

Sandra, there are a number of Ancestry trees for this family, such as this one www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/196076199/person/112562144329/facts

Have you contacted any of the tree owners yet? If not, I can help out with this tomorrow  :)

Have you viewed the 1862 death for Isabella Black or McKinnon? The SP index shows the maiden name of Black for her mother on her death registration index entry. Wondered what details showed on this cert for her parents.

I see an Isobella McKinnon on the 1841 census aged 55 in Irvine , but no credits left have to wait until the end of the month !
I have her on the 1851 census as Isabella McKinnon aged 65 (pauper) in Irvine born in Buteshire !
I have her death certificate , she died in 1862 in Irvine !

This looks to be the entry you mention from 1841 on FreeCen www.freecen.org.uk/search_records/5a141f8af4040b9d6e08e48c/isobella-mckinnon-1841-ayrshire-irvine-1786-?locale=en

Just to add here the 1851 census entry (which you have) for background www.freecen.org.uk/search_records/59027a9be9379091b11b846c/isabella-mckinnon-1851-ayrshire-ayr-1786-?locale=en

From Suzy100's details, there is this possible 1916 census entry in Canada www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KM58-V5F

The UK 1911 census date was on 2 April that year. The Canadian census was on 1 June. Which shipping entry were you looking at? Just that there is a 1911 census entry in Canada for an Edith Mary Baker in the same area as the 1916 entry www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV39-ZQCJ  This gives a possible birth date of Feb 1896. A possible shipping entry for her for 20 May 1911, arriving at Quebec www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2HLH-M5X

Edith from Bicester had a birth date of 17 October 1897 from what you have?

There are a small number of trees on Ancestry, and I see they have all been caught by the same problem...one person reckons born 1838, however I think this a guess.

Rick, I think the estimated birth year of 1838 comes from the 1865 marriage cert for Terence and Catherine where he shows as aged 27 and Catherine 25. The original image of the cert is included on this family tree www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/108549926/person/400067787875/facts
