It would appear we have the same ancestors, My great grandfather Richard Down left Great Wishford in 1890 and married in Rochdale Lancs. He was born in 1846ish. His father was Thomas Down of Great Wishford and South Newton (next village). After that it would appear its an Richards! I do remember many years ago findiing a link to Elias Down. The name Shergold and Blake appears too. I once went down to Great Wishford and there are still Down's living there.

Are you still searching for Ensall's? My grandmother was Jane Ensall, born Wishaw, Scotland. Lived in Rochdale. Must be the same Jane you found. We knew they came from Wigan area, but nothing else.
