It’s been a while, but I now have the birth certificate for my grandfather and there is no name or occupation for my great grandfather so obviously I’m not a descendent of the Blackwell’s, Elizabeth just put her name down as sole parent so now I’m doing a DNA test to see if I can come up with an answer to who might be our descendant on my grandfathers side.
If any comes up with answers or questions let me know.

Hi JG, sorry haven't been on here for ages. I believe robert had 4 children with elizabeth, gertrude, eva, alice and catherine. elizabeth went on to have another children with john morgan, corneilius. if you have access to ancestry you can see my tree from there. I have been trying to confirm most of this, but now all of my relatives have pasted. I can just remember having seen lots of the blackwells at my grandmothers funeral back in 1973, but with elizabeth it does get a little confusing. hope this helps, any questions just ask.

thanks

Hi,

Just rad both messages, this is my family, Hannah was their first child, but she died around 2mths I think, so the next 2 children were born in liverpool I presume because of this, I know they lost the pub to bad debt owed to them from Roger Price who went bank rupt, but yet still owned a hardware shop in Rhyl, hence why they moved to wein Y sais and ended up working in the coal mines, Roger and gwylim both moved to Canada. The census says the pub was 96 pen y ball st, must have been a lot of happy gentlemen on Sunday mornings before church..LOL

Thanks

Carl

1911 census does show robert vaughan as head of household married to elizabeth halewood and yes I'm not sure about who florence father should be since her name is blackwell and yes john henry died in 1903, I do have a marriage cert for my grandfather saying he is wilfred's father, but I can't find anything more about his brother and sisters or aunts and uncles.

thanks for the help

I am trying to find more about my family, my grandfather Wilfred Blackwell from Rhyl had 3 sisters Sarah, Margaret, Florence and brother John Henry, their parents were John Henry and Elizabeth Halewood, who married Robert Vaughan later when John Henry died, he had a sister Elizabeth Ann and brother Robert. John Henry was born in 1866, Wilfred 1905. If any one can help it would be much appreciated,

Hi, Thanks
I don't think this is my nain, on one census it says she was born in Liverpool, as for the Star Inn I found this info as well, but I also found it in Holywell past and Present, it's in 2 maps inside but that all i have.

If you find anything else out much appreciated.

Thanks for the info, born 1891 was Hannah, she died around 10wks old, 1892 is Eunice my Nain (grandmother), but Eunice is said to be born in Liverpool where her mother is from. It is strange how nothing comes up about this pub anywhere, if you find anything else it would be much appreciated.

Hi Wendy,

I know about the star inn at st Winifred's, it was like a pilgrim place back in the 1600 and 1700, unfortunately this is all that ever comes up on a search, yet this place did was there, I think it is now some sort of snack bar or coffee shop. I think this will be a tuff one to find out about. I think this would be a library job to find local books, I have Holywell past and present and it show the Star on 2 maps. If you find anything else out it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

There was a public house called the 'Star' at the end of Pen y Ball St and start of Cross St Holywell, does any one have any info on it. I know John Williams ran it in 1833 and my great grand parents William and Mary Jones ran it around 1890. I believe they lost it when a Roger Price went bankrupt.

Any help would be appreciated.
