Thank you everyone -sorry I haven't been online recently . I do appreciate all your advice. I do have Charles' death certificate ( no birthdate ) His marriage certificate ( no birthdate ) and I do have the info regarding Charles death. He did apply for citizenship and I checked that but again no birth dates. On the marriage cert it gives Charles ' mother as Hannah Ohlsen (maiden name )and on the death cert Mary Oleseu.
I do need to order the copies of register as I only have the certificates. I will check up what he did in WW1 as well. I am wondering how I would find out when he actually arrived ? Any ideas ?
Cheers

Thanks for that Ambly - As far as I know the older Anderson was in fact John -got confused he was married to Mary or Hannah Olesue (Olson) both born about 1838 in Gothenburg, Sweden.Their son Charles was born in Gothenburg around 1873 and both men were Master mariners.
Charles Anderson I am told jumped ship or left his ship in Auckland NZ around 1900 and married a Bella Owsley in Auckland at the age of 34 .
He spent his life on ships around the coasts of NZ . unfortunately he drowned in 1921 leaving a widow and 5 children including my father Fred when he was 2 years old.
Unfortunately I don't have a birth date for Charles . I am going to sweden in july and would dearly love some information on other family members.

Hi Marshall,

Hi I am Darell Anderson and my mother was a Wells . Her grandfather was Thomas Wells b.1866 and was Frederick Augustus Churcher Wells oldest son.

I have had a lot of help from this site and also recently from an advert I placed in the NZSG magazine . The reply I had was from a descent of one of FACWells daughters and he has given me his completed family history of the whole family right back to the 1600 !!!

I had done the hard yards too by tracing back and had almost solved all the questions I had about the family regards names and dates and when they first came to NZ Etc -I enjoy building up the stories.

I feel I want to still expand  to be able to gain as much info as possible and to get copies of family photos etc.

Now how I am best to help you -perhaps I need to give you Grants direct email so that you can approach him and I am sure he will send you all he has on the family. Grant is a descent of Rosina one of the 6 daughters and his family history is amazing.
I have some photos and some marriage certificates I could send you -I have Fred and Margaret's marriage and death. I also have photos of them !!!

It will be good to hear from you !!

Cheers
Darell

Hi Althea -guess what no luck !! The steps up to the cemetery are very narrow, very steep and with all the wet weather impossible for me to go up without huge risk !!! So disappointing -I can't imagine how they would get a lawn mower up !!
Not to worry !!
Tomorrow I go and start more research at the treasury in Thames.
I haven't been able to find the names of 3-4 of Frederick and Margaret's children so that's my next mission!!!
Thanks for your help !!!

Hi Althea, Thank you for your rapid reply !! :-*
Yes I have been to The Treasury in Thames once before. I found they had very little info on Elizabeth's parents and family but that was 2 years ago . I am preparing a pioneer register for my great great grandparents -Frederick and Margaret Wells who died the same year as Elizabeth. My Great grand father Thomas was I believe their oldest child born in Onehunga in Auckland 1866.
So I am trying to confirm the names and dates of all the other children -I only recently discovered that there were 6 girls and 3 boys. Any information in this direction would be great.
From past papers I have discovered a lot about the family and this trip we are going to try to get up to Tararu Cemetery ( the road up was closed when we last tried ) and I want to discover the site of the Butcher shop and house they all lived in on old Tararu Road .
I myself lived in Thames for 5 years back in the 1980s but wasn't interested in genealogy then !!
I have several family items from the old Wells family home -an old wash jug and some china and a riding crop !!
Can I ask where you fit into the family tree and do you live in Thames ??
Cheers

Hi there - Elizabeth Amelia Campbell ( Wells ) was my great great Grandparents daughter, she died in 1917 the same year that both her parents died. Her brother Thomas was my great grandfather !!!
I am going to Thames next week to do some more research on the Wells family and the 6 daughters and 3 sons , I already know heaps about Frederick Augusta Churcher Wells and his wife Margaret who were Elizabeths parents.
Please contact me if you want more of my information.
Cheers
Darell
