Hi Terry,

Yes, we are in NSW - my husband's family are from Griffith which is where Robert John Thomson eventually settled.

I'm still figuring out how things work on RC but think I have to post a few (3  ???) messages before I can send a PM to you.

Alexander came to Australia in 1852 (I found his name on a shipping record and I think it's him).
I can find no record of him until he married Elle Josephine Mary Byrnes in Bathurst in 1878. He was a comedian and  his normal place of residence was Sydney.
He toured the gold rush towns of NSW as part of a vaudeville act.
He died in 1903.

Hi Terry,

I only recently ventured into researching family history and discovered that Alexander Thomson and Elle Josephine Mary Byrnes are my husband's great grandparents. In trying to track down more info about them I came across some of your postings here on RC. My husband's grandfather was Robert John Thomson (b. 1880 in Bathurst) and younger brother to John Archibald (b. 1878) who I think is your connection to Alexander and Elle.

I know this is an old thread but being new to RC I am not yet able to post you a personal message. I would be interested in hearing from you to share info if possible.
