Just a word to say a huge thank you to each of you who helped me with the Griffiths. I have spent most of today getting my head around it all.

Hi Shanreagh
Yes, Sarah lived in a place called Mount Murray which was situated at the top of Macquarie Pass near Wollongong in New South Wales. She married John McGuinness. They had eight children. John died in 1908 and Sarah in 1922. They are both buried St Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Burrawang. John was the brother of two other Irish Orphan girls Eliza and Ellen. Both of whom married and lived in Wollongong. Eliza married a Kirton and Ellen a Gleeson. Also neither of these girls were actually orphans.Their mother Margaret was still alive and she also later came out with John.

Thank you. This gives me a good base for further research.  It truly extends my knowledge of Sarah and her family. Although the big mystery remains as to why Sarah came out to Australia as an orphan as part of the Donegal relief fund. One extended family member once suggested perhaps she had done something to disgrace the family. But that was pure speculation. I have not found anything to support this theory. As far as I know although living a subsistent existence in the poorer farming community in the southern highlands of NSW. She appears to have been a respected member of the community Raising her grand children after the death of her daughter. Once again many thanks.

Wow, yes I was most definitely reading it incorrectly. I was wondering whether she was Mrs Cunningham. I really wasn't sure what the dates meant. Thank you. This helps immensely.
There are several of us trying to crack this mystery. Having no success until now. Thank you.

An aside from the main search but maybe jumping to conclusions. I see theres a John Cannon who died at the age of 72 from Phthisis at Carrowcannon. His daughter was Sarah Boyle, present at the death. When William Griffith junior died in 1911 his executor was the Parish priest John Boyle. I will need to explore this a little further. Thank you once again for all of your help. Much appreciated.

My sincere apologies  aghadowey for not posting the link to the census. It was 1851. I thought because it had been posted that you had seen it. I tried to post the link but with absolutely no success. Thanks Wren.
Wow Gaffy I think you have cracked it. You are all amazing. Thank you.

This is the younger William who I think is the brother to Sarah and the son of William and Mary Cannon. I do not have conclusive evidence that this William is Sarah's brother but it is very likely. He owned Carrow Cannon House for some few years and was a JP.  And as her obit mentions Carrow Cannon  this is my connection. Somewhat tenuous really. At this point I'm happy to have this proved or disproved.
My information for William owning Carrow Cannon House was the book "Setting Donegal on Fire". I've looked up family tees and immigration records and death records all to no avail for William and Mary senior.

Hi All
I have once again hit a brick wall and am looking for any ideas. I have found a census record for William Griffith and Mary Cannon. The census record states that they were residing at 142 Woodstock Road Belfast with Mrs Mary Cunningham.  Children were James, Isabella, Anne, Sarah, Mary 10, William, John and Samuel. I have not been able to discover anything else about the family. Other than my previous connection between the younger William and Sarah with the mention of Carrow Cannon House. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
