Oxfordshire / Re: Alfred Johnson born circa 1820 Henley
« on: Sunday 06 November 22 11:20 GMT (UK)  »
So, thanks again, Wivenhoe.

Margaret Ellen Maria Bradfield & Emily Bradfield (whose marriages you found) are both daughters of Rachel Bradfield ne Cooper born in 1785 in Ascott-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire. I'm descended from her younger brother William.
My DNA matches who descend from this "Alfred Johnson" match known descendants of the Cooper family.
Now I'm really starting to wonder if Alfred Bradfield baptised in 1812 in Henley, Oxfordshire is in fact the same as Alfred Johnson, who started a new life with a second wife.
I need to look through all the records again to try to compile a chronology, but that's definitely the assumption I'm working on at the moment.

Thanks, Wivenhoe.
I'm going to need some time to look through all of that!
But it definitely looks like links to known genetic relations!

Appreciate your detective work!

Well I was just wondering that ???

It's really messed with my brain, so I've decided to leave it for a while and come back again when more people have taken DNA tests and things could be a bit clearer.

Of particular interest to me in the 1851 census, when they have the following servant with them:
Fanny Bradford (or Bradfield, it's hard to read), aged 43 born in Henly on Thames.

Not sure if it was just a heat induced typo, but to me Fanny's age looks like 13 on the 1851 census.  ;)

I think it's my eyes! I had another look and can see it's clearly 13 now!

Isn't this Fanny Bradfield born Henley in the 51 Census the same as Frances Ellen Bradfield baptised in Wonersh daughter of Alfred Bradfield?

Possibly. The whole situation is a bit mysterious.
Is Alfred Bradfield the same man as Alfred Johnson?

Have I understood correctly that you have matches descended from FIVE of John Lucas's siblings? So it doesn't matter if ONE of those siblings married a Stringer.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry DNA matches change

I noticed this too! Could the changes be why I've hardly had any new matches for a couple of weeks? Too busy updating things?
All the best

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Question re. shared DNA
« on: Sunday 04 September 22 22:23 BST (UK)  »
Im quite new to the DNA aspect of genealogy and Im hoping someone can please spare a minute to check if Im interpreting the following correctly or not.

I have an Ancestry match that I share 1069cm with and that number is exactly the same as our unweighted shared, 1069cm. This is across 34 segments, the longest of which is 114cm. Ancestry says we are 96% likely to be first cousins and DNA Painter ups that to 99%. Im not aware of any endogamy in the 5 or 6 generations before me on my largely complete tree. And other possible relationships that would give these numbers are discounted by known aspects of my family history and the relative ages of family members.

Am I missing something, or are my match and me almost certainly descended from full siblings?

What's making you think you might not be full first cousins? Their tree?
I think the likelihood you're full first cousins is extremely high, but it could be other relationships depending on your age difference.

It's one of those where I really can't justify the cost of the certificate.

But you can justify wasting people's time?

I really don't see how I'm wasting people's time. I made it clear in my first message what I was interested in. Why are you being so aggressive?
