Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Upcoming changes to tools at AncestryDNA

I'm also looking forward to seeing the relationship between my shared matches like MH does, would be really useful to me as well.

The one minor change I keep suggesting to them is on the main list page of all matches, just to show the number of shared matches I have with each. That way I can tell straight away that if they have no matches and no tree I can give them a coloured dot for 'no tree no matches' and just move on.

That's such a good idea

The sooner, the better. Knowing how many centimorgans shared matches share with each other will be of enormous benefit!
I hope we don't have to wait until the summer for this.

Buckinghamshire / Re: Emma Bowler Chalfont St. Peter marriage 1882

I did a bunch of research on the families of Seer Green a few years back for the local history society.

I do have Emma on that family tree, although not her marriage yet probably because she went rogue and moved to Chalfont St Peter! But I do have some ancestry for her taken from local parish records if it is of interest.

Thanks for your kind offer. I'm only really looking at the marriage right now, to find out any possible information about John's father.
All the best from the seaside  ;D

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Marriage 1843 in Kirtling

Hello everyone

On Familysearch I found the marriage of John Copping and Alice Taylor on 30 April 1843 in Kirtling.
I was wondering if anyone had access to the Kirtling registers. I'm interested in the name of the groom's father.
In 1851 the couple are in Kirtling.

Thanks in advance
Andy  ;D

Exactly! That's the Maria I'm thinking of.
Kept searching but can't find a marriage record.

Thanks for the reply and everyone's efforts!  :)

I'm working on a hypothesis (based on DNA matches) that the mother of Annie Maria Willis is the Maria Rawlins born and baptised in 1852 in Cuddesdon, Oxfordshire - about 6 miles from Oxford city centre.

A marriage between Maria Rawlins and Joseph Willis could give more information about her father. But no obvious marriage on FreeBMD or in London marriage records.

Thanks so much everyone!

That all fits with the baptism in on 6th Jan 1889 in the parish of Kensington St. James' Norlands of:
Lillie Isabella Willis daughter of Joseph (pedaller) and Maria, 4 St. Clements Road.

And the birth registration of:
Lydia Isabella Willis March quarter 1889 in Kensington Registration District mmn Rawlins.

I wonder Joseph Willis and Maria Rawlins officially married?

Hello lovely people

I'm trying to find out about Annie Maria Willis's live before she married Charles Henry Lingwood on 7th June 1896 in Islington (St. Anne's church). She gives her age as 19, her father as Joseph Willis bricklayer.
According to the 1939 register, her birth date was 28 February 1878, which fits with ages given in 1901 and 1911 census, as well as her death record in 1952. In both the 1901 and 1911 census her birth place is listed as Notting Hill.
All of their children had Willis as mother's maiden name.

I'm particularly interested in finding out her own mother's maiden name!

There's a family on the 1881 census in Hammersmith (30 Clifton Street), which may be Annie Maria and her parents, but I just don't know. The daughter is just called Maria. The mother in that family is from Oxfordshire. There's a birth registered in Jun Q 1878 in Kensington registration district: Maria Willis mmn Rawlins. Not sure if this is the right person.

Am I missing something obvious?
Sorry for rambling.
Andy  :)
