I have family connections with the JEWITT family of Co. Durham/ Northumberland country. They seem to have spread themselves westward nearly as far as Carlisle too, and maybe over the border into Scotland.

Any information would be most welcome.

Dorset / CROUCH

Does anyone have any information about the CROUCH family who lived in the Bournemouth/ Poole area in the early 20th century? Before that they lived in the London area, certainly in Islington at one time.

i'm interested in the Markey family of the Forest of Dean ie the Herefordshire / Gloucestershire border. I've got information about them going back to the late 17th century, thanks to someone in the USA who had done a lot of work on the family, but it would be great to be in touch with someone more local.

Family History Beginners Board / Wigley

I'm trying to find out about a John Wigley who was a Land surveyor in Pembrokeshire in the 18th century. Where might he have come from?
I know that the name is associated with Derbyshire but it seems unlikely that hr would have been born there and then find himself in west Wales by the time he was of working age.
Were there other Wigleys in Wales in the 18th century? Any help would be appreciated.

Herefordshire / Much Dewchurch-1600s-Markey & Porter family
« on: Thursday 29 March 12 21:10 BST (UK)  »
My great grandmother  Mary Ann Markey came from the Aston Ingham/ Taynton area to live in Glamorgan in the 19th century. I've traced her Markey family back to about 1695 in the Herefordshire/Gloucestershire, to James Markey who married Mary Read in Taynton in January 1716/17.

I've heard that his parents were William Markey and Elizabeth Smyth and that William was the son of John Markey and Beneddicta Hoskyns though I've no reference sources for these statements.

I live within easy reach of Hereford so I would be willing to go to the Record Office to look things up regarding this family. Did they live in Much Dewchurch? Any advice would be welcome!

Best wishes
