Library and FHS Lookups / Eckington Baptism Look Up Request Please
« on: Tuesday 29 May 12 09:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi

If anyone is planning a trip to Matlock Records Office or Eckington Library would you be so kind as to look up a baptism for Marjorie Elizabeth Wood. She was born at 34 Manvers Road Beighton in October 1916.
I found her baptism on Findmypast. It says Eckington Registration District Chesterfield Reference Number ECK /123 / 119 in 1916. This could be Oct / Nov / December. I have been told the church would have been St Peter and St Paul Eckington.

Thank you so much, any help is very much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Lynn

Hi
I think Mrs H is Henry's brother Allen Gleave's wife. Her name was Hannah. Allen went first then she followed on.
I found Henry on the ship Esperance Bay and although the age was right saying 53, the address was different to his home address. I think maybe he had just moved a few miles away for a time and then emigrated.
I have seen a photo on line of Allen and Hannah's grave in South Brisbane General.
Many thanks
Lynn

Thanks again Ross,

Yes I did read that a couple of months ago and yes you are right, it is our family. I am in touch with the grown up children of the people mentioned in the article. They are the ones who said he had never been heard of after he left the area to go to Sydney.

National Archives: There is a Henry arriving to Brisbane in November 1934 and a Mrs H arriving in 1937.

Jamjar

Thanks for this . I have never been able to find Henry on any ships passenger list. This could well be him, but there wouldn't be a Mrs. !!!
He had left her behind. Do you know what ship he sailed on ?

Is Murwillumbah near Brisbane ?

Thanks again, you are very kind and it is appreciated.

Kind Regards

There is a death notice for Henry, the one with wife Annie in the Sydney

Morning Herald 15 Sept 1931, page 8. I found it on TROVE.

Also on Ryerson Index there is a  Henry George Cleave

Death 17APR1995  age 85 late of Maryborough, formerly of Cairns, does the age of this Henry fit

Cass
Hi Cass
Thank you for trying to help me.
My Henry was definately alive in 1935 as the photos he sent back to England were dated 1935. His full name was Henry Gleave born 1882

Many thanks once again.

Kind Regards

NSW electoral rolls
1930   Henry (retired) and Annie Gleave living in Neutral Bay.
I think this is the Henry who died in 1931

   1936
Henry Gleave living at 12 Bucknell St, Newtown,  a machinist
    1937
Henry Gleave living at The Crescent, Fairfield, a woollen operative
    1943
Henry Gleave living at 74 Pitt St, Redfern, an engineer
    1949
Henry Gleave living at 133 Baptist St, Redfern, a process worker

regards,
   Ros

Hi Ros
I don't subscribe to Ancestry .com.au but I believe Henry may be on the Australian Electoral Rolls 1903 / 1980.
Henry Gleave 1936   West Sydney
Henry Gleave 1937    Robertson NSW
Henry Gleave  1943    Cook NSW
 Henry Gleave 1949     Cook NSW.

I don't know what info your Electoral Rolls give. Is it other voters in the household ? Henry was born in 1882.
Thank you so much for your trouble , it is very much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Lynn

Can we have his parent's names and any other information you may have on him, please?

His age would be useful and any middle names.

Jamjar
Hello and thank you very much for trying to help me. Henry Gleave born Bollington Cheshire England 1882. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Gleave formerly Allen.  Henry was my husband's grandfather. He left his wife and children in Bollington and he never came back. Apart from the photos this was the only contact they had.

Thanks again

Kind Regards

Lynn

Hi Lynn

There is a death on the NSW BDM Indexes:

13867/1931
GLEAVE  HENRY
(Father) JAMES 79YRS NEUTRAL BAY
(Mother) WILLS
(District) NORTH SYDNEY

There is also a Probate application on trove.nla.gov.au, which is the digitised newspapers held at the National Library of Australia.  Doesn't tell you much though - no relatives.

Jean
Hi Jean, thank you so much for trying to help. The photos Henry sent back to England were dated 1935.

Kind Regards and many thanks
