Longford / Looking for D'Arcy/Dawson in COunty Longford
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 11:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I am looking for more information on the woman who started my research, Ann D'arcy or Dawson.  Going by Scottish Census, she is down as being born about 1839 In Ireland and a birth certificate for her son John, tells me that her maiden name was Dawson (death cert tells me D'arcy) and she was born in County Longford.  Her other son William's birth cert, it says D'Arcy.  She married Peter McDade/MacDade (born County Donegal) in Edinburgh in 1850 and it says Dawson on the marriage certificate.

I cannot find any record that she remarried and changed names and i just have no idea where to look next therefore i hope someone here may be able to help me on here.

Thanks

Sarah

Thank you very much for all your help but i have already found that information out.  Alexander is my great grandfather.  On his brothers death certificate in 1916 he is not down as being deceased but by 1920 he is but even that isnt narrow enough.

I think i may just have to write him off as not being found.  I have been in contact with my local family history centre and they cant find him either.

I appreciate all your help though, that was really nice of you to go looking.

Thanks

I am looking for my great great grandfather James Whittie/Whitty.  He was born in 1856 and married an Isabella Buchan.  On his sons marriage certificate in 1920 he is down as being deceased.  He had lived in Leith and i have reason to believe he died there however i cannot locate anyone by that name.  I called the registry office for more information however they advised they look after 40 cemeteries and i would need an exact date.

Does anyone have any tips on how i can narrow the dates down?
