Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: Susan(nah) Rowe b1804@Stapleton / Martock

@Millipede
Thank you for your efforts.
I'm also unable to find her in 1851.
Husband John and Daughter Ellen (b1833) are in Addlestone, Chertsey with another Daur in Law from his 1st Marriage + Lodgers, but no sign of Susan(na).

Yes, Susanna Stevens (ne Rowe) married John Stevens in 1832 at Walton on Thames, Surrey.
John died in 1857 at Chertsey, Surrey.

Thank You.

Can anybody PLEASE help ?

I'm seeking the Baptism record details for Susan (or Susanna) Rowe who claimed to have been born at Stapleton, Somerset.
According to the 1861 Census, her birth was in 1803.
According to the 1871 Census, her birth was in 1806.
According to her Burial record, her birth was in 1804.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU, Alan Newitt.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Re: EDWARD NORRIS Baptism c1697 SOPLEY

Hello bearkat,
THANK YOU for that further information.
I can only say that their marriage by licence could have been for any of those reasons, as I don't have any further information at this stage.
Kind regards, Alan.

Hello bearkat,
THANK YOU for that information, which usually indicates that either one person or both was a minor, or a widow/er. However, JANE SMITH is recorded as a spinster.
Kind regards, Alan.

Hello Nell,
              THANK YOU for that information.
Maybe it's a possibility they could have been Non-Conformist.

Edward & Jane's daughter, Jane (b1723), was my ancestor.
I understand that there's a Will for Thomas Norris at Christchurch in 1721, maybe I should look at that to see if there is any connection.
Kind Regards, Alan.

One Name Studies: A to G / Re: BAUGH(E) / BASS(E)
« on: Thursday 18 October 18 19:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello Annie,
Thank you for your latest reply.
I had previously assumed the pronunciation to be as in "ball" but minus the "ll",  as you indicated

However, my research does now show that during the 1700s and earlier, spellings did include :-
Baugh(e), Bass(e), Baff(e).

Thanks for the offer of your Baugh info, but unless they resided in the Wiltshire and neighbouring counties area, I would rather leave that for now, Thanks.
Likewise, if you require any info concerning the Baughs in the Winterslow area, I would be happy to assist if I can.

Kind regards, Alan.

Hello Annie,
                 Thank you for that information.

I've now discovered that BAUGH can be pronounced as in "Laugh", and what I thought were Ss,
could be Fs. Apparently some people spell it as BAFF. --- I'm continually learning.

Kind Regards, Alan.
