oh, and those itchy liberty bodices....  my dad used to have to stretch my vests.  Hated them too tight.  Also the dose of malt I got if i arrived too early for my friend for our walk to school!

 :)

Being shunted around living with my gran, aunt etc.  Attending 7 junior schools.  Enduring my cousins' tormenting and missing my dad.  My mum was in and out of mental health institutions.

 ???

But,  I survived.   :D

Maybe fire service.  It is odd how some have that band on their left arm and some on the right..  The chap at the front with the chevron on his sleeve also has "two pipps" on his collar.  Very odd.  Maybe somesort of naval outfit (Lifeboat),

I am very curious now.  Hopefully someone can help.

Armed Forces / Re: Uniform identification help please

What a lovely photo.  Perhaps someone can give it a clean to get rid of the smeared look.  But it is a wonderful picture.

As far as I understand Rifle brigade(s) usually had black buttons but this looks like a dress uniform so I am unsure of date etc.  Sorry not to be more help.
Are you at liberty to give your  ancestor (in the Rifles) name?.  Maybe someone can find out a little more for you.

Kind regards

Hope it all goes well for you.

Wished I lived nearer, I would be there.  Would love a FH Fair to rummage round today.  I am so envious..  Good luck
