Storks Nest was leased in 1901 by William Chorley. William renamed it Channel view and it became one of his homes of rest. William had conceived the idea of a T B hospital in Lancing and took over a couple of properties.

In case it adds to any clues....

Horace E Weeden married Lily Salmon in Bromley reg district in 1922.

That's Horace and Lily with Horace Coppard in 1939.

I would assume that the library has made a mistake. What records did they send to you to prove?

There is only 1 Horace Coppard  born within 2 years of 1918 on the GRO website.
I would suggest that you need to buy both the birth cert in Bromley for 1918 and the marriage cert suggested here.

Family trees on Ancestry have Horace Coppard/Horace Edward Coppard as one and the same person.

A report in the Church Times says the burial ground was closed by Order- in Council in 1855. It's seems the ground was never deconsecrated. Between 1921-1957 the burial ground was built over by an extension to the eye hospital.
In 2011 the report says around 700 sets of human remains were to be exhumed and reburied.

My son has a copy of

The Secrets of Q Central: How Leighton Buzzard Shortened the Second World War.

Can't find it at the moment but he says it's a good read.
