Inverness / Re: McBean/Fraser/McGlashan/MacIntosh Daviot and Dunlichty
« on: Monday 25 November 19 23:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, Harper 7

I am researching this family but on the Fraser side. This is my mother's line. She comes down from Mary Fraser's (McBean) brother Donald Fraser, my great great grandfather. I am currently trying to work out where and how the McGlashan name comes in but it is proving very challenging.

My tree goes            My great grandfather was Duncan Fraser m Anne McEachern
2x Great grandfather was Donald Fraser m Catherine McDonald
3x Great grandfather was William Fraser/McGlashan m Margaret
                                     McIntosh
4x Great grandfather was William Fraser/McGlashan m Rebecca McGillevray

I live in Sydney so its hard to trace the paper trail. Think I need a trip to Scotland to spend some time going through the real paper records!!!

Lestree....we have talked on ancestry.  I am not convinced of MacGlashan link.  I think it might be a totally different person but cant figure it out either.

Good point.   On the marriage cert it says she is a spinster...so I guess that is the answer.   ::)

Dublin / unreadable-where to get better copy?
« on: Sunday 13 October 19 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone and thank you for your help.

This is the marriage info of my great great gparents but I can barely read the details which may be very helpful as this is where I am completely stuck.  Can anyone tell me where/how I could get
a clear copy of this document?  It is from St Agathas in Dublin.  I have tried emailing them multiple times but no answer.  I have tried reporting the image to ancestry multiple times but no answer.  Can I send away for a copy somehow?

Thanks!

Julie

Dunbartonshire / Doyle death shows previous marriage?
« on: Sunday 13 October 19 11:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone and thanks for your help

I have come across a death certificate for my great gpas second wife and Im wondering if it shows she was married previously and if so if anyone can read the name. It looks like ? clark to me but im not sure.  If it helps she was originally from Ireland.  Im looking at the last entry on the page for Elizabeth Cowie.  It says married to William Cowie and then it says something under that.  I also havent been able to figure out where she is actually buried if anyone might give me somewhere to start with that.  I know her sister is at the Western Necropolis but pretty sure she isnt there.

Thanks!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Bad scan!
« on: Monday 28 January 19 22:55 GMT (UK)  »
Inquirying about the last entry on the left.  Johannis Doyle and Julia Griffen.  The scan is unclear, can anyone read any of the entry?  I think it says Johannis' parents were Patrick and Elizabeth and that he was from Baltinglass (which makes sense) but I cant make out anything else.  It would really help to know Julias parents and where they were from as well as any other hints.  OR can someone tell me where I can get a clearer scan?  I emailed St Agathas but  no response.

Thanks for any help, Im stuck!

Wicklow / Doyle/Ovington in Baltinglass
« on: Monday 08 October 18 22:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello good people.  I THINK I may have finally made some progress on my Irish side.  I found this marriage info for my great great gpa John Doyle (from Baltinglass) and Julia Griffen.  It lists Johns parents as Patrick Doyle and Elizabeth.  I then think I can link that via dna to Patrick Doyle and Elizabeth Ovington who had at least three kids in Baltinglass:  Patrick in 1831, Andrew (Andrea?) 1834 and Richard 1837.  The witnesses for these births were robert and mary ovington, Anthony ovington and john byrne.   I cant however find any birth info for my John or Joannis Doyle, nor do I know a year of birth other than his fist child I know of was born 1862.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!
