One Name Studies: T to Z / Re: TILSTON Family History Journal (Link)
« on: Saturday 29 December 18 15:31 GMT (UK)  »
I realise this is an old thread but I'm researching my TILSTON line and would very much like to read this journal.  I can't find it online.  Would anyone have a current link?  Or know where I can get this journal?

Many thanks.

Wow, thank you so much Steve.  That solves a piece of the puzzle for me.  I had a Medals Index Card which I thought could be his, but couldn't be 100% sure without some confirmation of his regimental number.

Can't thank you enough!

Hi Murphester

Not sure if the Absent Voters List available online, but there is a copy at Newport Reference Library which I can check for you, maybe the end of this week or during next week,if that is of any help to you?

Hi Steve

I would really appreciate that, if it isn't too much trouble.

I have sent an email to the Gwent Archives but the auto-reply said that they can take up to 10 days to answer me and even then I don't know if they can help (I just found their details online).

What other information would you need from me?
His name is Albert Pullin and at the 1911 census, he is at address 24 Lime Street, Newport.  I can only assume that would still be his address in 1918.  His wife is Gertrude Lillian (Lily) Pullin.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Many thanks!

Hello

I'm trying to track information on my GGrandfather who served in WW1.  I have a possible regiment number for him and it was suggested that I try to find him on the Absent Voters List 1918.  He lived in Newport at the time.

Does anyone know if this information is available online?  Or how do I go about searching for this?

Many thanks

If the last person to have the bear is not interested in having it back (left it at the airport on purpose, lost it but couldn't be bothered looking for it), it will be lovely to reunite him with a family member.  Otherwise, what will become of him?   :(

Well done to all the researchers - a great team effort!

I'm not surprised that the items were lost over 12 months ago.  "Lost and Found" departments aren't usually pro-active in reuniting people with their items.
And something like this would have been too precious to just dispose of.

For what it's worth, I think its the same bear.  He's just been well-loved - the feet have been resoled, the arms reinforced, potentially tried to be restuffed due to his big tummy scar.  I think I'd look a bit bedraggled after all that too.  I can still see a mouth on this bear, his faced has just changed shape slightly over the years.

I also think the significance of finding the photograph with the bear can't be ignored.

I hope he is claimed and all our questions can be answered!   ;D

Thank you! I didn't know that information existed!

On his marriage certificate (to Beatrice Ellen) he listed his status as Bachelor.  I guess if he and Mary Ann just parted ways, and no official divorce took place, then he would feel that was the right term to use.

Easy to see how things may not have worked out ... he was away at sea a lot!

Thanks Ladyhawk, that's interesting and worth looking in to.  However, my gut tells me that they would have lived very near to a port as being in/on water is the type of work Edgar always did  (dredger, mariner etc).  Nevertheless, I will see how much more I can find out about Reginald.

Oh, how I wish the census was taken more than every 10 years!

And, yes, I have that list of the children.  Gertrude is my GGrandmother.  :)
