Yes, the Fairforths did drop the last H or change the TH into D once in Gaudaloupe although I understood they were originally based in Marie Galante (although Guadeloupe might have been the office for BMD registration).

I have a Birrell in the tree married to an Agnes Jarvie (I'm in touch with their sons). I imagine Agnes and William might have been brother and sister - often the case in the Davidson family. The name Birrell comes from Mary Sharp's father - her sister Helen married James Davidson and also had a son called Birrell who emigrated to the USA. Our great great grandfather was the first Birrell Davidson. His wife Isabella was his cousin. I had no idea there were Sharps on the Jarvie side. I've sent you a PM with my email address or maybe you're on FB ? Don't want to go into much detail on those still alive on a public site. I also have lots of info on the ancestors

Thanks Annie These are my great great parents and I'm "responsible" for this on FindaGrave I've related quite a few of the family on the site We're hoping to erect the stone again I've been researching the family for some years and have quite a bit of info as well as contacts, descendants of about half a dozen of their sons I'd love to hear from anyone who is connected

I think Treetotal has got the most true colour - thanks Carol - & will print this one off for my Mum. I've also saved the black and white version from Japeflakes. I couldn't do anything with the photo but I'm not an expert on retouching photos. I really appreciate you all spending time on this

Birrell Davidson is buried there with her - these are the elusive great great grandparents. Just wondering if you have a photo where it's possible to see the inscription? The stone is in such a bad state, that I'm not sure anything will be visible.
This is quite exciting for me and, weather permitting, I will certainly try to make a pilgrimage on my next visit at the end of the year - if you do have it, directions would be very helpful.
