Thanks Tazzie.  Don't worry about looking for Richard as he came to Australia.  Just thought you might be interested that he lived with the Walkers for a while.

Hello Tazzie

I have been having fun digesting all the information you have provided on the Walkers and trying to follow up a few points.  Thanks for all your work!

Re Owen Walker.  He has turned up in the 1871 census aged 5!  Perhaps he was farmed out to one of the relatives to look after.  (Assuming his 1901 age is wrong.)

I found my g-g-grandfather, Richard Hanson, living with Maria and Joseph in 1871.

Have you got any further details on Joseph’s death?  Was he buried at Chearsley and if so when?  (The year you gave must be a mistype.)

Regards Rodney

Many thanks Julie for the information.  Did Ellen Kirby by any chance come from Shabbington?  James's brother, Richard (my g-g-grandfather), married Isabella Kirby from Shabbington in 1871.

Hi Tazzie (& Julie)

I have been following your investigations with great interest.

The second marriage of Thomas Hanson I was initially interested in occurred between 1871 and 1881 (to Sarah, born circa 1815 at Roxham).

I was wondering what happened to Maria & Joseph Walker.  They had a daughter, Elizabeth, circa 1860.  Do you have any information after that?

I would also be interested in what happened to Thomas and Hannah Hanson’s other children: Mary (born c1835), John (born c1837 and single and living at home in 1881), Elizabeth (born c1840), Thomas (born c1842 and widowed and living with his father in 1881), and James (born c1847).  Hopefully the records won’t be as confusing for this period!

Take your time in replying.

Rodney.

Hello Tracy

Thanks again for your reply.  I would be very interested in whatever information you can ascertain on Thomas’s family.

I gather from the IGI that a Maria Hanson (Richard’s sister?) married a Joseph Walker on 24 July 1859 in Chearsley.  We may be related!

I found out today from the 1881 Census that Thomas remarried.  His wife is shown as Sarah Hanson, born circa 1815 at Rowsham in Buckinghamshire.

Thanks ever so much for your prompt reply.  I am thrilled with the information you sent.  I assume it all came from the records for the Parish Church of St Nicholas and that they are the actual dates for the baptisms, except where indicated otherwise.

I understand that Hannah Hanson (until your message I didn't know her name!) may have died when Richard was very young.  Is there a record of her death/burial?

I would be most interested in any details of the family of Thomas Hanson, born circa 1814.  His son Richard (my great-great-grandfather) was born circa 1848 in Chearsley and married Isabella Kirby in Shabbington in 1871.  They had a son Aaron in 1872 who died on the voyage to Australia in 1874.

I am a descendent through Russell's third child, Georgina Reid Tait.  She married William Henry Styles in 1883.

I assume that your husband is descended from Russell's youngest child, David William Tait, born Darlington in 1865.  Am I correct?

I would love to get in touch direct if a way can be found.
